CentreARTesans en la Patacona: La fábrica de esencias. Centro de artesanía floral valenciana.

Abstract

[ES] El barrio de La Patacona acoge aún los trazos del pasado industrial originado a consecuencia de la construcción de la línea de ferrocarril Valencia-Tarragona. En una de estas parcelas próximas a las vías, donde las acequias siguen su recorrido hasta el mar, se elevan lo que hoy es un hito de este pasado, las naves de las antiguas bodegas Vinival. Menos indicios sobreviven, sin embargo, de una preexistencia anterior: el jardín de Malvarrosas de más 50 hectáreas que hasta finales del siglo XIX cubría los amplios marjales de las playas de la Patacona y la Malvarrosa, en donde ahora se asientan los grandes complejos residenciales y los restos del paso de esta industrialización. La idea génesis del proyecto es el entendimiento de que estas dos preexistencias, la natural y la industrial, forman parte de la memoria del lugar. El proyecto pretende así, volver a poner en valor esta identidad perdida. Por ello se comienza con una estrategia medioambiental, que pretende convertirse también en una oportunidad de desarrollo social y urbano dentro del barrio; situando el nuevo centro de artesanía florar valenciana dentro de los restos de la nave principal de Vinival.

[EN] The neighbourhood of La Patacona still bears the traces of the industrial past generated because of the construction of the Valencia-Tarragona railway line. On one of these plots of land next to the tracks, where the irrigation ditches continue their route to the sea, rise what is today a landmark of this past, the Vinival winery warehouses.

Less evidence survives, however, of an earlier pre-existence: the hollyhock garden of more than 50 hectares that covered the wide marshes of the La Patacona and La Malvarrosa beaches until the end of the 19th century, where the large residential complexes and the remains of the industrialisation process now stand.

The genesis idea of the project is the understanding that these two pre-existences, the natural and the industrial, are part of the memory of the place. The project thus aims to restore the value of this lost identity. Therefore, it begins with an environmental strategy, which also aims to become an opportunity for social and urban development for the neighbourhood, locating the new Valencian Floral Craft Centre within the remains of the main Vinival warehouse.
