REINTERPRETAR LA CIUDAD A TRAVÉS DEL DESARROLLO DE CENTRALIDADES URBANAS. Descubriendo espacios HABITABLES en Quito

Abstract

[ES] La situación actual de la ciudad de Quito es delicada, tanto por su evolución, como por la expansión de sus límites de crecimiento, que tienen como consecuencia el deterioro de la calidad de vida de sus habitantes y el surgimiento de espacios residuales (urbanos y sociales).

Reinterpretar la ciudad se refiere a la actitud de adentrarse y explorar la ciudad desde una nueva perspectiva y punto de vista, que permita una percepción distinta del espacio urbano y sus necesidades. Esto conlleva también la comprensión de la ciudad y la transformación de la cual está siendo objeto.

A través del desarrollo de un sistema, como el de Centralidades Urbanas, se puede apuntar en la dirección adecuada para la reforma de la dinámica actual de la ciudad, y de sus prácticas sociales; es decir, intervenir sobre una estructura existente, con el objetivo de encontrar un camino para re-hacer la ciudad: habitar la ciudad.

En el presente trabajo se analiza y explora las oportunidades del sistema de Centralidades Urbanas desde un nuevo punto de vista, así como las relaciones que se pueden fomentar en la actual configuración urbana, además de exponer nuevas alternativas de tratamiento y uso del espacio, hoy discontinuo. Al generar una espacialidad urbana según el desarrollo propuesto, nos permite descubrir espacios HABITABLES; nuevos lugares intermedios para que la interrelación social sea constante y continua.

[EN] The current situation of the city of Quito is delicate, in evolution as much as in the expansion of its growth's limits, which consequence is the deterioration of its inhabitant's quality of life and the appearance of residual spaces (urban and social). "Reinterpreting the city" refers to the attitude of enter and explore the city from a new perspective and point of view, allowing a different perception of urban space and your needs. This also involves the understanding of the city and the transformation, that it has been subjected. Through the development of a system, such as Urban Centralities, we can establish a suitable direction for the reform of the current city dynamics, and their social practices; it means, act on an existing structure, with the aim of finding a way to re-do City: habiting the city. The present project analyzes and explores the opportunities of a new point of view for urban centralities system, as well as the relationships that can be promoted in the current urban configuration, in addition to exposing new alternatives of treatment and use of the space, that is discontinuous today. When we generate an urban space according to the proposed development, it allows us to discover habiting spaces; new places in between so the social interaction could be constant and continuous.
