La ciudad blanca; Madinat Al-Zahra

Abstract

[EN] The relation between time and architecture becomes clear in the Madinat al-Zahra through the role played by materials and construction as the support of architectural form. The analogy with an archaeological site is the starting point of the project and it leads the process of conception, development and construction, where decisions regarding to spatiality, materiality and construction come up as a reflection on contemporary architecture, the ancient Arab city and the recovery of the archaeological remains.

[ES] La relación entre el tiempo y la arquitectura se hace patente en el Museo de Madinat al-Zahra a través del papel que el material y la construcción adquieren como soporte de la forma arquitectónica. La analogía con una excavación arqueológica de la que parte el proyecto guía el proceso de concepción, desarrollo y ejecución de la obra, donde las decisiones espaciales, materiales y constructivas surgen como una reflexión en torno a la arquitectura contemporánea, la antigua ciudad árabe y la recuperación de las ruinas arqueológicas.
