UNA DE 800.000. PROYECTO AUDIOVISUAL SOBRE EL SUICIDIO

Abstract

«Una de 800.000. Proyecto audiovisual sobre el suicido.» es un recorrido audiovisual apoyado en los testimonios de distintos voluntarios que trata del silencio que envuelve el suicidio. De esta forma se pretende visibilizar y normalizar este y otros trastornos mentales que habitualmente podemos encontrar. En estos días son pocas las personas que muestran la suficiente valentía para pronunciar la palabra «suicidio», puesto que existe un miedo irracional ante este tema, sobre todo debido al mito del efecto contagio. A lo largo de nuestra vida nos cruzamos con personas que viven con la idea de acabar con su vida y seguramente jamás han hablado sobre ello. Se crea así un sentimiento de culpa, vergüenza o rechazo y algo tan habitual como este pensamiento llega a convertirse en un secreto inconfesable. Según la OMS (Organización Mundial de la Salud), el número de pacientes con otros trastornos mentales va en aumento. El suicidio es la segunda causa de muerte y provoca que anualmente 800.000 personas de entre 15 y 29 años fallezcan en el mundo.

«One of 800.000, Audiovisual project about suicide.» is an audiovisual quest based on several volunteers¿ testimonies with regard to the silence surrounding suicide. Thus, we intend to normalise and make more visible this mental disorder along with some others that we can normally come up with. Nowadays few people show enough courage to pronounce the word «suicide», since it exists an irrational fear towards this topic, mainly due to the contagion effect myth. Throughout our lives we bump into people living with the thought of ending with their lives and they have probably never talked about it. This way a feeling of guilt, shame or rejection is created, and something as common as this thought becomes an unmentionable secret. According to WHO (World Health Organization), the number of patients with other mental disorders is increasing more and more. Suicide is the second cause of death and provokes that annually 800.000 people from 15 to 29 years old die in the world.
