INDIVIDUAL Y COLECTIVO. Representaciones pictóricas de rasgos contemporáneos

Abstract

[EN] This project is made up of a series of paintings in which the figures take a leading role, show different features of contemporary culture and create a pictorial map in which the collective relations and the individuality of the subject are questioned. The painting talks about painting, but it allows us to glimpse the setting in which it is framed. The painting plays with what is seen and what is hidden, the characters in the paintings show their totality while hiding their forms, cover their faces or, ironically only show these, undressing everything that surrounds them. Emphasis is placed on the abuse of the image as an instrument that without the need to say anything can imply an oversaturation of information, as occurs in our current visual culture. These resources, when repeated, produce visual patterns that capture the attention of the spectator when they are in tension before a huge mass of elements that do not pursue a narrative act. A personal imaginary is sought where the idea of a crowd mutes in all its possible aspects.

[ES] Este proyecto está compuesto por una serie de cuadros donde las figuras toman un papel principal, muestran diferentes rasgos de la cultura contemporánea y crean un mapa pictórico en el que se cuestiona en torno a las relaciones colectivas y la individualidad del sujeto. La pintura habla de pintura, pero deja entrever el escenario en el que se enmarca. La pintura juega con lo que se ve y lo que se esconde, los personajes de los cuadros muestran su totalidad a la vez que ocultan sus formas, tapan sus rostros o, irónicamente solo muestran estos, desnudando todo lo que envuelve a su alrededor. Se hace hincapié en el abuso de la imagen como instrumento que sin la necesidad de decir nada puede implicar una sobresaturación de información, como ocurre en nuestra actual cultura visual. Estos recursos, al repetirse, producen unos patrones visuales que captan la atención del espectador al verse en tensión ante una masa ingente de elementos que no persiguen un acto narrativo. Se busca un imaginario personal donde la idea de multitud mute en todas sus posibles vertientes.
