Centro Gutemberg : Danza + Teatro

Abstract

El área de nuestro proyecto se sitúa en el centro histórico de la ciudad de Valencia en el barrio del Carmen, concretamente en la manzana U-22 delimitada por las calles Guillem de Castro, Llíria, Gutenberg y Na Jordana, es una pieza fundamental del borde de la Ciutat Vella que enfrenta al Jardín del Turia.

Haciendo un barrido histórico por esta zona observamos que siempre ha sido anexa a la muralla tanto musulmana como cristiana. Su primer uso fue de explotación agrícola, las primeras construcciones que aún perduran fueron un conjunto de fábricas dedicadas a la manufactura de la lana. La manzana se consolidó combinando arquitectura residencial obrera e industrial. La riada del 57 afectó gravemente a la zona llegando a cerrar algunas fábricas. A mediados del XX con la ampliación de Na Jordana algunos edificios aislados llegaron a las diez alturas quedando fuera de contexto. Realizamos la ordenación de la manzana dando frente al jardín del Turia con edificación residencial así como también en la calle Llíria. En la calle Gutenberg equipamos la manzana con un centro de carácter educativo un Conservatorio Profesional de Danza, el cual contribuirá a la revitalización de la manzana U-22 así como también al barrio del Carmen y establecerá interconexión de barrios.

El proyecto consiste en la remodelación de las naves industriales de la calle Gutenberg, así como la ampliación en altura y transformación tipológica de la torre de viviendas de la calle Na Jordana, convirtiéndolo todo en un conjunto con un programa común. Transformando la torre de viviendas en una torre para la danza que estará siempre presente en la silueta de la ciudad como performance que permanece constantemente cambiando.

The area of ​​our project is located in the historic center of the city of Valencia in the district of Carmen, specifically in the block U-22 delimited by the streets Guillem de Castro, Llíria, Gutenberg and Na Jordana, is a fundamental piece of the edge of the Ciutat Vella that faces the Garden of the Turia.

Making a historical sweep by this zone we observe that it has always been annexed to the wall both Muslim and Christian. Its first use was of agricultural exploitation, the first constructions that still remain were a set of factories dedicated to the manufacture of the wool. The area was consolidated combining working and industrial residential architecture. The flood of 57 severely affected the area closing some factories. In the middle of the XX with the extension of Na Jordana some isolated buildings reached the ten heights being out of context. We manage the zone facing the Turia garden with residential building as well as in the street Lliria. In Gutenberg Street we equip the area with an educational center a Professional Conservatory of Dance, which will contribute to the revitalization of the U-22 block as well as the neighborhood of Carmen and will establish neighborhood interconnection.

The project consists of the remodeling of the industrial buildings of Gutenberg Street, as well as the extension in height and typological transformation of the tower of houses of the street Na Jordana, turning everything into a joint with a common program. Transforming the housing tower into a tower for dance that will always be present in the silhouette of the city as a performance that constantly changes.
