EL ALMACÉN PARA LA COLECCIÓN DEL REAL MONASTERIO DE SANTA CLARA DE GANDÍA. UN PROYECTO INTEGRAL. Estudio de la colección y diseño del espacio

Abstract

El presente Trabajo Final de Máster tiene como objetivo el desarrollo de un proyecto de almacenaje para los bienes culturales que conforman la colección de las Hermanas Pobres de Santa Clara de Gandía y que se encuentran en el Real Monasterio de esta misma ciudad.

Las Monjas de Santa Clara disponen de una colección artística formada por más de 400 obras de distinta tipología y materiales, realizadas entre los siglos XV y XIX. Estas provienen de donaciones de duques y nobles empoderados, predominando las piezas que pertenecieron al legado cultural de la familia Borja y que entregaron como dote cuando internaban al convento las mujeres de la familia. Buena parte de las obras son de destacada calidad y valor históricoartístico, realizadas por importantes artistas de procedencia española e italiana.

Un estudio, tanto cualitativo como cuantitativo, de las piezas que conforman la colección y diversas visitas a depósitos de museos de distintas tipologías, han permitido la realización de un proyecto de almacenaje para estas obras. Este contempla el acondicionamiento del espacio contenedor; el diseño, tipología y número de unidades de almacenaje a adquirir, la definición de medidas de conservación a instaurar y la disposición de las respectivas obras en el depósito.

La construcción del almacén se inicia en abril de 2018 en base a las instrucciones y directrices que constituyen el presente proyecto.

The present Final Master's Project develops a storage project for the cultural assets that belong to the collection of the Poor Sisters of Santa Clara of Gandía and that are in the Royal Monastery of this same city.

The Nuns of Santa Clara have an artistic collection consisting of more than 400 artworks of different typologies and materials, that were made between the 15th and 19th centuries. These come from donations of dukes and noblemen, predominating the pieces that belonged to the cultural legacy of the Borja family and that were given as a dowry when the women of the family entered the convent. Most of the works are of outstanding quality and historical-artistic value, made by important Spanish and Italian artists.

A qualitative and quantitative study of the pieces that belong to the collection, along with several visits to museum deposits of different typologies, has led to the realization of a storage project for these works. This includes the conditioning of the container space; the design, typology and number of storage units to acquire, the definition of conservation measures to be established and the arrangement of the respective works in the warehouse.

The construction of the warehouse began in April 2018 based on the instructions and guidelines that constitute the present project.
