Desvelar lo visible. Merleau-Ponty y el aprendizaje por la pintura

Abstract

[ES] Aunque no persigan una finalidad didáctica como tal, los textos sobre pintura del filósofo Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1908-1961) contienen apreciaciones que bien podrían llegar a constituir una propedéutica del medio. Para tantear esta posibilidad, el artículo examina en primera instancia los componentes que según el filósofo francés caracterizan la tarea artística ¿cuerpo, gesto, expresión¿ y los emplaza a continuación en el ámbito específico de la pintura. Fijado ese marco operativo, se abordan ciertos principios de la praxis pictórica ¿espontaneidad, instantaneidad, simultaneidad¿ que, sumados al comportamiento del color y de los materiales de trabajo, determinarían en opinión de Merleau-Ponty la idiosincrasia del medio y, con ello, algunas claves de utilidad para su eventual aprendizaje.

[EN] Although they did not have a didactic function as such, the texts on painting by the philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty (1908-1961) contain appreciations that could constitute a propaedeutic of the medium. In order to test this possibility, the article examines in the first instance the components that according to the French philosopher characterize the artistic task - body, gesture, expression-and then places them in the particular context of painting. Once this framework has been set, the text approaches certain operative principles of pictorial praxis - spontaneity, instantaneity, simultaneity-which, together with the behavior of color and materials, would determine in Merleau-Ponty's opinion the idiosyncrasy of the medium and thus some useful keys for its eventual learning.
