The genus Capsicum sp. is one of the most important and spread vegetables all over the world. The rise of different agricultural production systems to conventional, as the organic system is, make necessary the research about the interaction of these crops with the agricultural production systems used. For that, in the present study we have proceeded to analyze phenotypically the root systems of 19 genotypes from different cultivated species of this genus under two different agricultural production systems: Conventional and organic. We have used two commercial phenotyping platforms to achieve that: Pepper Shovelomics Scoreboard & WinRhizo. Our results, shown the huge intraspecific and interspecific diversity existent on the root system of this genus, as well as its interaction with the agricultural production system used. These differences were significant for the different morphological traits measured, which shows the suitability of each genotype for each agricultural production system.
