CHARLIE CHRISTIAN Y SU INFLUENCIA EN LA GUITARRA DE JAZZ

Abstract

Este trabajo trata sobre la influencia ejercida por Charlie Christian en el desarrollo del lenguaje de la guitarra de jazz, en concreto, sobre la generación posterior a él, y toma como referencia a los guitarristas Barney Kessel, Kenny Burrell y Tal Farlow. Para ello hemos hecho un análisis comparativo del fraseo de Christian con el de estos guitarristas, el objetivo del cual ha sido poder describir los recursos propios del lenguaje de Christian para compararlos con los de los otros músicos, y así poder comprobar si existe entre ellos algún tipo de relación y mostrar cuál es. Los resultados de la investigación muestran indicios de esta influencia y de la importancia de las aportaciones de Charlie Christian al desarrollo de la guitarra de jazz.

This work deals with Charlie Christian¿s influence in the development of the language of the jazz guitar, specifically on the generation that came after him, taking as reference the guitarists Barney Kessel, Kenny Burrell and Tal Farlow. I have made a comparative analysis of Christian's phrasing with the phrasing of the latter guitarists. The goal of this analysis has been to be able to describe the resources of Christian's language so as to compare them with those of the other musicians in order to check if there is any kind of relationship between them and show which kind of relationship it is. The results of the research show signs of this influence and of the importance of Charlie Christian's contributions to the development of the jazz guitar.
