[EN] The current thesis is intended to develop a technical and economic study on metal enclosures, meant for the electrical switchgear protection in order to avoid direct contact by non-qualified personnel, considering the environmental factors to the installation, and way of reducing to the maximum the risks that exist in this type of constructions.
The purpose of this project is to adapt the enclosure range to the current needs of the market, seeking at all times to maintain the essence of it and modernizing the areas where the product has become obsolete. The study is developed with the objective of being used as a real basis to conceive an improved commercial product, so the emphasis will be placed on the economic section and will take into account the design and manufacturing limitations due to the current machinery available in the factory where it is made, as well as the market restrictions.
First, an introduction will be exposed where the parts that make up an electrical box will be defined as well as grouping the different types that exist in the market; in addition, introducing the regulations applicable to this product.
A brief survey of the current range will be given including the key areas of the envelope to be improved.Then the bases of the new range will be established according to the decisions made by, in turn, a 3D reconstruction of a manufactured model according to the specifications of both ranges.
The bases that must be fulfilled by the different elements of the box will be established, developing a search for the materials both of the envelope and of the joints that best adapt to the needs of the product.
Subsequently, static and impact studies will be carried out using the Finite Element Method of SolidWorks software to determine if the changes made represent an improvement of the enclosure’s properties.
Finally, all the manufacturing processes necessary to form the piece will be evaluated and an economic study of all of them will be carried out giving a final estimate of the production costs of the new range and making a comparison to the ones which are currently used in the market.
