Estructuras ligeras. Principios básicos en la obra de Jörg Schlaich

Abstract

[ES] En la segunda mitad del siglo XX, las estructuras ligeras han experimentado un avance significativo con la obra y la aportación del ingeniero de estructuras Jörg Schlaich, que, siguiendo la tradición de los grandes ingenieros en la búsqueda de una relación eficaz entre forma y estructura, ha diseñado obras de una gran belleza formal, que pueden ser muy inspiradoras para la arquitectura contemporánea. A partir de algunas de estas obras, se estudiarán los métodos y principios utilizados por Schlaich, mediante los cuales ha llegado a tan novedosas soluciones estructurales, en las que se avanza en la aspiración a resistir más con menos material.

[EN] In the second half of the twentieth century, light structures have experienced a significant advance with the work and the contribution of the structural engineer Jörg Schlaich, who, following the tradition of the great engineers in the search for an effective relationship between form and structure, has designed works of great formal beauty, which can be very inspiring for contemporary architecture. Starting from some of his works, Schlaich¿s methods and principles will be studied. He reached through them very innovative structural solutions, which are a step forward in the thrive to resist more with less material.
