Abstract

[EN] RCR arquitectes do not repeat paths tracked previously by other ones. Their anchoring in a context, almost rural, occurs simultaneously with their paradoxical international expansion, what clearly shows why we are before one of the most singular teams of architects of our contemporaneity. Conversing with them is simple, without any ambiguity, they are able to move you to suggestive landscapes thanks to their words and the vigour transmitted by their affirmations. RCR, in a serene way, present us with a world where you can only enter after understanding the concept of “shared creativity” but, above all, after coming to understand once again that architecture should thrill. A work that, as they point out, advances from the experience of their daily work. This group of architects, schoolmates, began its journey in the final years of the eighties of the last century. They returned to their city of origin, Olot, from where they could get involved in a global world: Pritzker Architecture Prize, 2017. Médaille d’Or de l’Académie d’Architecture Française 2015. Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de the République Française 2008-14. International Fellows of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) 2012. Honorary Fellows of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA) 2010. National Prize of Culture in Architecture of the Generalitat de Catalunya 2005; this sequence of recognitions has not separated them from their native landscape. Since 1989 they are consulting architects of the Natural Park of the volcanic area of La Garrotxa. This duality between closeness and expansion indelibly marks his way of thinking and doing. The landscape that welcomes them, that they study and understand in a profound way, leads them to extrapolate this system to other places without losing rigor or sensitivity. Within this framework, the drawing becomes a key instrument to be able to transmit their deep and free ideas of any physical tie that could condition them. His technique, connected with oriental roots, allows a transmission of synthetic knowledge that permeates all subsequent decisions developed by the office. His work on paper is the best example of that singularity that they have been building for thirty years.

Su anclaje en un contexto, casi rural, al tiempo que su paradójica expansión internacional muestran claramente por qué estamos ante uno de los equipos de arquitectos más singulares de nuestra contemporaneidad. Conversar con ellos es sencillo, sin ambages, son capaces de trasladarte a paisajes sugerentes gracias a sus palabras y a la vigorosidad que transmiten sus afirmaciones. RCR, de forma serena, nos presentan un mundo donde solo se puede entrar después de comprender el concepto de “creatividad compartida” pero sobre todo después de volver a entender que la arquitectura debe emocionar. Una obra que, como ellos señalan, avanza a partir de la experiencia de su quehacer diario. Este grupo de arquitectos, compañeros de escuela, inicia su recorrido en los años finales de la década de los ochenta del siglo pasado. Esta secuencia de reconocimientos no les ha apartado de su paisaje nativo, desde 1989 son arquitectos consultores del Parque Natural de la zona volcánica de La Garrotxa. Esta dualidad de cercanía y de expansión marca indeleblemente su forma de pensar y de hacer. Ese paisaje que les acoge, que estudian y entienden de forma profunda, les lleva a extrapolar esa sistemática a otros lares sin perder rigor ni sensibilidad. Dentro de este marco el dibujo se convierte en un instrumento clave para poder transmitir sus ideas profundas y libres de cualquier atadura física que las condicione. Su técnica, de raíces orientales, posibilita una transmisión de conocimiento sintético que impregna todas las decisiones posteriores desarrolladas por la oficina. Su obra sobre papel es el máximo ejemplo de esa singularidad que durante treinta años llevan construyendo.
