PROTOTIPO DE LA REVISTA FÓSFORO. REVISTA DE DISEÑO, ILUSTRACIÓN Y FOTOGRAFÍA

Abstract

Este proyecto final de Bellas Artes en la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia trata sobre la creación del prototipo de la revista independiente Fósforo. La realización de un prototipo es un producto de prueba, que se presenta al cliente antes de tomar la decisión final y de su producción en masa. La revista Fósforo trata temas de diseño, ilustración y fotografía. Este proyecto pretende poner en práctica las facultades necesarias, como el proceso de elección y organización de los distintos elementos de la revista. Por ejemplo: la elección de la tipografía, la composición entre texto e imagen, y otros implicados en este proyecto práctico del sector del diseño editorial.

Simultáneamente se hace una investigación sobre la historia del diseño gráfico, sus sucesos más interesantes y un análisis de revistas actuales, el cual consiste en un corto recorrido sobre sus aspectos generales y su evolución. Ponemos el foco en el diseño editorial especializado en publicaciones variadas, en las que hacemos hincapié en las revistas diferenciando entre las dos modalidades, una especializada y la otra comercial.

Pretendemos entender cómo elegir los distintos componentes de una revista, los procesos de impresión, la coherencia temática y la gráfica, acompañada de la elaboración propia de los contenidos. Todos estos procesos combinan aspectos teóricos y prácticos, en un panorama laboral existente en diferentes agencias y empresas. Estas usan este medio como forma de difusión de contenido en físico y vía digital, desde plataformas sociales, webs y apps, creando tendencias en diferentes campos artísticos que influyen a nivel global al mercado.

Con lo cual, este proyecto final de grado de Bellas Artes nos permite adentrarnos en los procesos reales que se emplean en los proyectos del diseño editorial, así como adquirir profesionalmente habilidades más especializadas, como conocimiento y manejo de tipografías y composición de textos, aspectos legales acerca de las publicaciones, edición apropiada de fotografías, organización de un proyecto editorial, etc.

This final project of fine arts bachelor degree at the Polytechnic University of Valencia is prototype creation of the independent magazine ¿Phosphorus¿. A prototype is a test product that is presented to the client for demonstrating the idea and design goal of the magazine before making the final decisions such as the choice of the actual contents and mass production. The sample contents of this magazine Phosphorus/Fósforo comprise discussions and interpretations of state-of-the-art design, illustration and photography. Other than this, processes such as selection and organization of different design and style elements (typographic choice and compositions between text and image) are practically implemented during the contents making.

Besides that the history of graphic design with its most interesting events and analysis of the current magazines was investigated. This investigation was depicted as a journey of the graphic design evolutions. We put the focus on editorial design, specialized in various publications. In which, we emphasize on magazines, differentiating between the two modalities such as specialized and commercial type.

The understandings on the choice of different components of a magazine, the printing processes, thematic coherence and the graphical preparation of the contents are crucial for this prototype project. So that production processes according to the theoretical and practical aspects of the existing panorama laboratories from different agencies and companies can be determined. Magazine prototype can be used as a form content dissemination in physical or digital via, social platforms, website and mobile applications to create trends in different artistic fields that could potentially influence the global market.

The completion of this fine arts degree final project allows us to learn and experience the realistic processes that are practiced in the editorial design projects. Last but not the least, it also provides us the possibility for specializing ourselves professionally in skills, like knowledge and management of typography and composition of texts, legal aspects about publications, appropriate edition of photographs, organization of a publishing project, etc.
