Estudio técnico y propuesta de intervención de El sacrificio de Isaac, pintura sobre tabla del siglo XVIII

Abstract

El presente escrito, aborda el estudio y la propuesta de intervención de una pintura al óleo sobre soporte lígneo. Se trata de una obra de autoría desconocida, que representa una temática religiosa perteneciente al antiguo testamento, en la cual aparece escenificado el sacrificio de Isaac (Génesis 22, 1-19). Para llevar a cabo dicho trabajo, en primer lugar, se ha realizado un estudio histórico e iconográfico de la imagen que compone la obra. En segundo lugar, se ha efectuado un estudio técnico, centrándose en cada uno de los elementos que conforman la pieza: el soporte lígneo, los estratos pictóricos y el marco, con el fin de estudiar y conocer mejor el comportamiento de los materiales y su envejecimiento con el paso del tiempo. Por otro lado, se ha analizado el soporte lígneo mediante la extracción de muestras para determinar el tipo de madera. También se ha realizado una documentación fotográfica mediante radiaciones visibles y no visibles, las cuales han aportado una mayor información para el estudio técnico de la obra. Por otra parte, se ha analizado el estado de conservación de la obra con el objetivo de reconocer las alteraciones y deterioros que presenta la pieza; para ello se han elaborado una serie de mapas de daños tanto del anverso como el reverso de la obra con la intención de ilustrar y ubicar cada una de las patologías que le afectan. Seguidamente, y como resultado de todos estos proceso, se ha elaborado una propuesta de intervención con la finalidad de plantear de manera clara y detalladamente los tratamientos que se van a realizar para la óptima perdurabilidad de la obra. Se han aportado además una serie de pautas especificas para la correcta conservación de la obra, con el objetivo de garantizar y prolongar la durabilidad de la obra en el transcurso del tiempo.

The present essay is about the report and the intervention proposal of an oil painting made on lignin support. It is an artwork of unknown authorship, with a religious theme, belonging to the Old Testament, where the scene of the sacrifice of Isaac is represented. To carry out this work, in the first place, a historical and iconographic study of the image that makes up the work has been made. Secondly, a technical study has been carried out, focusing on each of the elements that make up the piece: the lignum support, the pictorial layers and the frame, in order to study and get a better understanding of the behavior of the materials and their aging over time. On the other hand, the ligneous support has been analyzed by extracting samples to determine the type of wood. Photographic documentation has also been made through some visible and non-visible radiations, which has given us more information for the technical study of the artwork. On the other hand, the state of conservation of the work has been analyzed with the aim of detailing the alteration and deterioration that the piece presents. For this reason, some series of damage maps have been prepared both on the front and the back of the work with the intention to illustrate and locate each of the pathologies that affect it. Then, as a result of all this actions, a proposal of intervention has been prepared with the purpose of proposing and ordering the treatments that are going to be carried out for the optimum conservation of the painting. They have also provided some series of specific guidelines in order to the correct conservation of the work, with the aim of guaranteeing and prolonging the durability of the work over time.
