ARTE PÚBLICO EN CONTEXTOS URBANOS. Papel mojado.Reproducción de un elemento estigmatizado en el contexto del barrio del Cabanyal

Abstract

[EN] This urban art project is born from the personal concern of approaching through my artistic practice the perception of a daily environment, more specifically of censored spaces, such as the solar and the relationship that people maintain with these, accommodating themselves to them and coexisting daily with a problem that ends up being made invisible in a process of normalization of these spaces. The work reflects on the perception of the environment in the context of the abandoned or disused spaces within the contemporary metropolis, taking as starting point some of the characteristic elements of the so-called "zero zone" of the Cabanyal district, affected for years by the urban speculation. Given its location, the Cabanyal district has been the target of continuous urban speculation, of political and social conflict that dates back to the end of the nineteenth century to the present. a framework of facts that is not intended to analyze in this work and that the AVVCC, the Association of Neighbors and Neighbor Cabanyal-Canyamelar is responsible for collecting on its website until 2009, with a fundamental factor in the development of this issue, which was the proposal for the extension of Blasco Ibañez Avenue, to which the neighboring platform Salvem el Cabanyal-Canyamelar has also strongly opposed since 1998. Sometimes what we are used to, what we deal with daily, can become invisible in the process of normalizing a problem. It is precisely this aspect of invisibility around these partitions in the zero zone of the Cabanyal, which is intended to be treated in this project taking as a central element of the work the brick, building element but in this case also veto. A neighborhood in permanent conflict because of the social instability that occurs in some areas of this and that affect many of the residents of this area. Closed, walled and forgotten spaces that together with the isolation of this area contribute to the degradation and devaluation of the neighborhood, turning them into stigmatizing elements of its aesthetics. Some buildings that have become part of the aesthetics of the neighborhood, almost taking over entire streets in a process of normalization of these components, elements that blur and censor the space and the landscape by diluting the interest of those who coexist in this environment towards it, becoming invisible. Through the reproduction of these stigmatizing elements, these walls, and ironizing about the seriousness of this problem through the materials that make it up, it is intended to evoke a reality that many residents of the area deal with on a daily basis.

[ES] Este proyecto de arte urbano nace de la inquietud personal de abordar a través de mi pràctica artística la percepción de un entorno cotidiano, más concretamente de los espacios censurados, como son los solares y de la relación que mantienen las personas con estos, acomodándose a ellos y coexistiendo a diario con una problemática que se acaba invisibilizando en un proceso de normalización de estos espacios. El trabajo reflexiona sobre la percepción del entorno en el contexto de los espacios abandonados o en desuso dentro de la metrópolis contemporánea, tomando como punto de partida alguno de los elementos característicos de la llamada ¿zona cero¿ del barrio del Cabanyal, afectada durante años por la especulación urbanística. Dada su ubicación el barrio de el Cabanyal ha sido objetivo de continua especulación urbanística, de conflicto político y social que se remonta a finales del siglo diecinueve hasta la actualidad. un entramado de hechos que no se pretende analizar en este trabajo y que la AVVCC, la Asociación de Vecinos y Vecinas Cabanyal-Canyamelar se encarga de recoger en su pagina web hasta el año 2009, con un factor fundamental en el desarrollo de esta cuestión que fue la propuesta de la prolongación de la avenida Blasco Ibañez a la cual la plataforma vecinal Salvem el Cabanyal-Canyamelar tambien se ha opuesto de manera acérrima des de 1998 . Aveces aquello a lo que estamos acostumbrados, aquello con lo que tratamos a diario, se puede tornar invisible en el proceso de normalizar una problemática. Es precisamente ese aspecto de la invisibilidad entorno estos tabiques en la zona cero del Cabanyal, el que se pretende tratar en este proyecto tomando como elemento central de la obra el ladrillo, elemento de construcción pero en este caso también de veto. Un barrio en conflicto permanente por la inestabilidad social que se da en algunes zonas de este y que afectan a buena parte de los vecinos de esta zona. Espacios cerrados, tapiados y olvidados que junto al aislamiento de esta zona contribuyen a la degradación y devaluación del barrio, convirtiéndolos en elementos estigmatizadores de la estética del mismo. Unas construcciones que se han convertido en parte de la estética del barrio llegando casi a apoderarse de calles enteras en un proceso de normalización de estos componentes, elementos que desdibujan y censuran el espacio y el paisaje diluyendo el interés de los que coexisten en este entorno hacia el mismo, tornándose invisible. A través de la reproducción de estos elementos estigmatizadores, de estas tapias, e ironizando sobre la gravedad esta problemática a través de los materiales que lo conforman, se pretende evocar una realidad con la que tratan a diario muchos vecinos de la zona.
