ESTUDIO Y PROPUESTA DE INTERVENCIÓN DE LAS PINTURAS MURALES DEL CASINO GRAN DE CANALS

Abstract

[EN] In the following study, the analysis of the mural paintings found in the Casino Gran, located in the town of Canals, province of Valencia, is developed. This is a set of seven murals representing the town between the decades of the twenties and thirties. This work was commissioned to Rafael García Sanchís, an artist, well known in the surroundings of his hometown, Xàtiva, which is close to Canals. Each of these murals represent moments or different points of view of the town of Canals. Due to the constant use of the building, up to the present day, these paintings have undergone repainting, and according to the oldest people, who have lived in society with the building and the events that take place in it, have been subjected to two interventions, whose documentation is not currently available. For these reasons, this report will expose the analyses carried out on the painting, thus breaking down the technique, the materials and their iconography. Subsequently, the murals will be catalogued, in which the damage they suffer and their causes will be indicated in each of them. Once they have been examined, the proposal for their intervention will be made, adjusting it to the characteristics extracted in the previous processes, the creation of a proposal for preventive conservation adapted to the uninterrupted use of the building, and the budget for carrying out the intervention proposal required by this project. Here the study of these paintings is made known, in order to develop a proposal for intervention in consequence of their state of conservation, since in spite of being relatively young paintings, the technique employed, the materials and the continuous use of the building favour and accelerate the deterioration of these seven works.

[ES] En el siguiente estudio, se desarrolla el análisis de las pinturas murales que se encuentran en el Casino Gran, situado en la localidad de Canals, provincia de Valencia. Se trata de un conjunto de siete murales que representan la localidad entre las décadas de los años veinte y treinta. Esta obra fue encargada a Rafael García Sanchís, un artista, muy reconocido en los alrededores de su ciudad natal, Xàtiva, la cual se encuentra próxima a Canals. Cada uno de estos murales representan momentos o diferentes puntos de vista de la villa de Canals. Debido al constante uso del edificio, hasta la actualidad, estas pinturas han sufrido repintes, y según la gente más longeva, que ha vivido en sociedad con el edificio y los actos que transcurren en este, han sido sometidos a dos intervenciones, de cuya documentación no se dispone actualmente. Por estos motivos, en este informe se expondrán los análisis realizados a la pintura, desglosando así la técnica, los materiales y su iconografía, posteriormente se expondrá una catalogación de los murales, en los que se indicará en cada uno de ellos los daños que padecen y sus causas. Una vez examinados, se realizará la propuesta de intervención de estos ajustándose a las características extraídas en los procesos anteriores, la creación de una propuesta de conservación preventiva adaptada al uso ininterrumpido del edificio, y el presupuesto para realizar a cabo la propuesta de intervención que requiere este proyecto. Aquí se pone en conocimiento el estudio de dichas pinturas, para desarrollar una propuesta de intervención en consecuencia a su estado de conservación, ya que a pesar de ser unas pinturas relativamente jóvenes, la técnica empleada, los materiales, y el continuo uso del edificio, favorecen y aceleran el deterioro de estas siete obras.
