Con las cabezas en la nube. Arte ecológico en la era post-digital

Abstract

[ES] La presente investigación es un acercamiento al potencial que ofrecen las prácticas artísticas ecológicas en el contexto de Internet.

Para poder comprender las problemáticas medioambientales actuales, se explora la noción de crisis cultural, propia de las sociedades occidentales, y cómo ésta ha alimentado el problema del cambio climático. Se expone como esta temática ha sido tratada desde el arte, en prácticas del arte ecológico y ecomedia, para profundizar en su discurso y estrategias.

Con el fin de entender el rol que pueden tener las practicas artísticas ecológicas en el contexto de Internet, se revisan sus implicaciones en la cultura occidental y su impacto medioambiental, además de cómo estas temáticas han sido tratadas por movimientos de arte post-Internet y post-digital.

En último término se explora, cómo el arte ecológico desde una perspectiva post-digital, puede actuar críticamente en el contexto de un sistema neoliberal y una creciente demanda energética de Internet, cuestionando convenciones establecidas y proponiendo alternativas a los hábitos de consumo.

[EN] This research is an approach to the potential offered by ecological artistic practices in the context of the Internet.

In order to understand current environmental issues, the notion of cultural crisis, own of western societies, is explored and how it has fueled the problem of climate change. It is exposed how this theme has been treated from an artistic point of view, in practices of ecological art and ecomedia, analizing their discourse and strategies.

Aiming to grasp the role that ecological artistic practices may have in the context of the ever growing Internet, the effect of the later on western culture and its environmental impact are reviewed, in addition to how these themes have been treated by post-Internet and post-digital art movements.

Ultimately, it is explored how ecological art with a post-digital point of view, can act critically in the context of a neoliberal system and a growing energy demand of the Internet, questioning established conventions and proposing alternatives to consumption habits.
