Sustainable renovation and redevelopment areas

Abstract

[EN] This project consists in the development and sustainable renovation of two areas in Rotterdam. The first one is located in Merwe Vierhavens, an industrial area, in which a future vision will be developed to transform the area into a sustainable and attractive Healthy Ageing hub. The second one is a multicultural neighbourhood called Afrikaanderwijk in which the goal is also to renovate it to improve its social, economical and sustainable aspects. This research is the result of the cooperation of students with different backgrounds, knowledge and cultures. It was a challenge for all of us to manage working together within the Dutch educational system, as we all had very different ways of working but with effort, enthusiasm, creativity and desire we accomplished our aims, answered all the objectives that we faced and ended up to a common vision.
