Sustainable market

Abstract

[EN] Food prices are rising. People are living in poverty. The climate is changing, a lot of people are exploited by multinationals and the world as we know it is in danger. We need a transition in the mind set and behaviour of certain people, and now more than ever it is the time to act. This sentences lie at the foundation of our project.

In the name of USOS we organised a market about sustainable agriculture and commerce to inform students about these global issues and let them know that they themselves can make a change.

This market took place the 20th of May at Hof Van Liere, also known as the inner city garden of the University. At the market students had the opportunity to taste, interact and receive information about alternative food consumption. They were able to buy alternative products such as local, ecological beer, tasty insects and all kinds of organic vegetables and fruits.

With this market, we hope that we have convinced people to be more aware of what they eat. The more people we reach, the more impact we can have.
