Estrategia de regeneración urbana del barrio de San Isidro. Intercambiador

Abstract

[ES] Situado en el suroeste de Valencia, formando parte de la periferia de la ciudad, encontramos el barrio de San Isidro. De carácter inicialmente rural, el barrio se conforma en medio de la huerta a partir de la agrupación de alquerías y caseríos, que hoy conviven junto con grandes manzanas de edificios. Poco queda ya de la huerta: la construcción del Plan Sur, las líneas de metro y tren, el polígono de Vara de Quart y la propia urbanización del barrio han hecho que ésta desaparezca por completo, perdiendo parte de la identidad de San Isidro.

En este contexto urbano, y tras un análisis en profundidad, se plantea una propuesta general para la regeneración urbana del barrio, potenciando las preexistencias históricas mediante recorridos peatonales que conectan con el resto de la ciudad, y se desarrolla detalladamente una de las zonas más conflictivas del barrio: el cruce entre las líneas de metro y tren.

En este punto se plantea un intercambiador que conecta ambas vías, pero también el barrio con sus límites inmediatos. Un edificio que se extiende por el talud del tren, apropiándose de él y proporcionándole un uso, haciendo de un espacio residual un espacio de actividad. Una serie de plataformas a distinto nivel, que se quiebran o perforan para comunicarse entre sí y permitir relaciones, conforman el edificio. Éste se basa en los conceptos de espacio abierto y flexibilidad para permitir un programa abierto que pueda adaptarse a las necesidades del barrio.

[EN] Situated in the southwest of valencia, forming part of the city suburbs, we found San Isidro district. Initially of rural carácter, the neighbourhood is conformed in the orchard built up from the pooling of farmhouses and hamlets, which today coexist along with large blocks of buildings. Little is left of the orchard today: the Plan Sur construction, metro and train lines, the industrial state Vara de Quart and the neighborhood's own urbanization have made it disappear completely, losing part of San Isidro¿s identity.

In this urban context, and after an in-depth analysis, a general proposal is proposed for the urban regeneration of the neighborhood, enhancing the historical preexistences through pedestrian routes that connect with the rest of the city, and one of the most conflictive areas of the neighborhood is developed in depth: the cross between metro and train lines.

At this point there is a station that connects both roads, but also the neighborhood with its immediate limits. A building that extends along the slope of the train, appropriating and providing it a use, making of a residual space a space for activity. A series of platforms at different levels, which tilt or drill to communicate with each other and allow relationships, make up the building. It is based on the concepts of open space and flexibility to allow an open program that can be adapted to the needs of the neighborhood.
