La arquitectura residencial de John Lautner y su representación en las artes audiovisuales

Abstract

[ES] El arquitecto estadounidense John Lautner (1911-1994), sirviéndose de ideas vanguardistas y mediante la incorporación de nuevas tecnologías, diseñó muchas de las viviendas que a día de hoy todavía definen la imagen de la ciudad de Los Ángeles. Estas casas aúnan los elementos primarios del espacio residencial con diseños de lujo. Entre ellas destacan algunas como la Sheats/Goldstein, la Schaffer, la Malin o la Jacobsen. Si bien en su momento no se apreció en exceso su valor arquitectónico, actualmente son referentes que han cambiado la forma de pensar sobre la configuración y funcionalidad de los hogares. El cine, junto a otras representaciones audiovisuales, las ha puesto en perspectiva convirtiéndolas en su escenografía particular y ofreciéndoles un marco de difusión que las incorpora al imaginario colectivo.

[EN] The north-american architect John Lautner (1911-1994), by using cutting-edge ideas and through the inclusion of new technologies, designed lots of the residences that define the contemporary image of the city of Los Angeles. These houses join the primary qualities of a residential space with luxurious and well-crafted design. Some notable works are the Sheats-Goldstein, the Malin, the Schaffer and the Jacobsen residences. Even though its architectural value was rarely lauded back then, nowadays they are a referent for the way we think about homes. Cinema, among other audiovisual representations, has put them in perspective by turning them into filming sets while offering a framework that broadcasts them to make them part of the collective imaginary.
