Propuesta de rehabilitación de la casa de Paco Rico en Castalla (Alicante)

Abstract

[ES] Se propone para el desarrollo del Trabajo de Fin de Máster la realización de una propuesta de rehabilitación de la casa de Paco Rico de Castalla, con el fin de poner en valor este edificio, dotándolo de un nuevo uso que pueda servir tanto a los ciudadanos del lugar como a los turistas. Se ofrecerán unas instalaciones de biblioteca complementarias a las ya existentes en la casa de la Cultura y además se mostrará el edificio como un museo que cuenta su propia historia y la historia del pueblo a la que pertenece.

Se trata de un edificio emblemático de la ciudad , catalogado y con valor patrimonial que conserva la estructura , las fachadas y elementos decorativos históricos de interés de diferentes etapas.

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Master, se realiza dentro del Máster Universitario de Arquitectura, en el taller A de proyectos, en la que los profesores responsables son Luis Francisco Herrrero y Juan María Moreno. Dentro de este taller se ha propuesto un trabajo centrado en la localidad de Castalla. En concreto sobre la rehabilitación del edificio de Paco Rico se van a desarrollar dos TFM que aportarán distintas soluciones proyectuales, uno de los cuales es el que aquí se ha propuesto (1/2).

Castalla es un pueblo que como muchos otros tiene graves problemas en su centro histórico. La gente ha ido abandonándolo por no satisfacer las necesidades de la forma de vida actual y ha ido ocupando la zona del ensanche.

En cambio, la gran pendiente del terreno en la que se implantan los edificios, su Castillo coronando la montaña, la gran variedad de rutas de senderismo, su gastronomía y todos los sitios de interés de los que dispone, hacen que Castalla se ofrezca como una gran oportunidad para el turismo.

Es por esto, que después de un previo análisis se decide intervenir urbanísticamente en la manzana que separa el centro histórico del ensanche. Con ello se pretenden recuperar las traseras de la calle mayor, que durante mucho tiempo han dado la imagen a Castalla, y ofrecérselas al pueblo junto con un gran espacio dotacional y verde.

Este espacio podría entenderse como el principio de unos recorridos turísticos que incluirían la visita a una de las viviendas testimonio de la arquitectura residencial del siglo XVII, la casa de Paco Rico. Pero, además, la eliminación de las barreras arquitectónicas existentes, el acercamiento entre casco histórico y ensanche y el núcleo cívico-cultural que se crea con la inclusión de la casa de Paco Rico podría ofrecerle una nueva oportunidad al centro histórico.

[EN] I propose for the development of my Final Master¿s Degree Dissertation, the realisation of a restoration proposal of Paco Rico¿s house in Castalla, with the aim of giving value to this building, providing a new application that can be used by both the inhabitants of the place and the tourists. Apart from the already existing facilities in the cultural centre, some complementary library facilities will be offered and the building will be showed as a museum that tells its own story and the story of the village it belongs to.

It is a city emblematic building, catalogued and with patrimonial value, and it keeps the structure, the façades and historical decorative elements from different periods, which are of great interest.

The current Final Master¿s Degree Dissertation is carried out as part of the Architecture University Master¿s Degree, in the projects workshop A, in which the responsible professors are Luis Francisco Herrero and Juan María Moreno. In this workshop a work focused in the locality of Castalla has been proposed. Two Final Master¿s Degree Dissertations are going to be carried out dealing with the restoration of Paco Rico¿s building, which are going to provide different project solutions; one of these works is the one proposed here (1/2).

Castalla is a village that, as many others, has serious problems in its historical centre. People have been leaving it due to the impossibility of this historical centre to satisfy the needs of the current lifestyle, and these people have been moving to the expansion district.

Notwithstanding, the big gradient of the piece of land where the buildings are built, its castle on the top of the mountain, the great variety of hiking routes, its gastronomy and all the places of interest that it has, make Castalla a village that has a lot to offer for tourism.

Consequently, after a previous analysis, it is decided to carry out an urbanistic intervention in the block that separates the historical building from the expansion district. With this intervention, they aim at recovering the rear parts of the main street, which have been the image of Castalla for a long time, and offer these parts to the village, together with a big and green non-residential space.

This space could be understood as the beginning of some touristic tours which will include the visit of one of the homes that are testimonial of the residential architecture from the 17th century: Paco Rico¿s house. But, in addition to this, the elimination of architectural barriers, the coming together of the historical area and the expansion district, and also the civic-cultural heart that is created as a consequence of Paco¿s house inclusion, could offer a new opportunity to the historical centre.
