Infraestructura de acogida portuaria: Mercado Cultural

Abstract

[ES] A nivel urbano, la línea de intervención del proyecto está enfocada en la regeneración del puerto de Valencia, recobrando su identidad histórica como núcleo cívico de actividad. Con este objetivo, se libera el puerto de zona industrial y se propone un nuevo frente marítimo, que mejora sus conexiones con el resto de la ciudad y permite a Valencia desembocar en el mar. La infraestructura propuesta se sitúa en el muelle de Poniente, subordinándose en planta a su geometría alargada. Se trata de un edificio que alberga los programas de terminal marítima y mercado cultural, es decir, un espacio urbano enfocado al encuentro, intercambio y acogida de pasajeros- ciudadanos. Por ello, el edificio se concibe como un lugar abierto y permeable, un gran elemento de transición entre la ciudad y el mar, ligado a ambos por completo. Esta pretensión se consigue mediante una gran cubierta longitudinal, que otorga unidad y carácter al proyecto, convirtiéndose en su elemento más significativo. La pieza de cubrición da acogida al programa propuesto organizado en tres niveles diferenciados: espacios de enseñanza, creación y relación; zonas de venta, exposición e intercambio, y finalmente el área destinada a terminal marítima. No obstante, se produce una relación constante entre las diferentes zonas a través del juego espacial y los recorridos longitudinales.

[EN] At the urban level, the intervention line of the project is focused on the regeneration of the port of Valencia, getting back its historical identity as a center of activity. In order to achieve this goal, the industrial area of the port is reduced and a new maritime front is created, which improves its connections with the rest of the city and opens Valencia to the sea. The proposed infrastructure is located in the Poniente dock, with a shaped subordinated to its elongated geometry. The program of the building includes a maritime terminal and a cultural market, that is to say, an urban space focused on the meeting, exchanging and reception of passengers and citizens. For this reason, the building is conceived as an open and permeable place, a great element of transition between the city and the sea linked to both completely. This pretension is achieved through a large longitudinal roof, which gives unity and character to the project, becoming its most relevant element. The covering piece contains the proposed program organized in three different levels: teaching, creation and relationship spaces; sale, exhibition and exchange areas; and finally, the area for the maritime terminal. However, there is a constant connection between the different zones through the spatial play and the longitudinal paths.
