dc.description.abstract | [EN] During this short period of time I have spent studying at MTU, I have been working on the characterization of Zr-Ti-Co ribbons, specifically 7 batches, processed previously by my advisor Paul Frailey though a melt spinning process with the aim of identifying the effects of the processing parameters on crystallinity and the mechanical properties. As a background for the past work done on this project, we can say that the actual manufacturing company of these ribbons, asked the Material Science and Engineer Department of the MTU to process, analyze and determine whether this material was behaving ductile or brittle with a crystalline or an amorphous structure. So, when I joined the project, it was already started but unfinished; Paul already had processed enough batches of ribbon (with different parameters of temperature, pressure and spinning velocity) to begin with the characterization. So, in order to do that, and with the time limited by the short length of this semester, we approached this research with three different measurement and analysis tools: the micrometer, the X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) and with the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) eventually. | es_ES |
