Metamorfosis: reconversión de la Marina de Valencia

Abstract

[ES] La ciudad de Valencia se encuentra en un entorno llano, muy ligado al campo y la costa, cuyo litoral se ha visto afectado por la acción de un cuerpo artificial de gran tamaño, impacto e importancia para la población valenciana. El puerto yace sobre la costa más cercana a la ciudad, pero ésta no lo abraza, sino que le da la espalda. Llega el momento de revertir esta situación y dotar a Valencia de un puerto urbano con las características necesarias para que estos cuerpos que nunca se han unido lo hagan para no separase. Debido a que nuestro puerto no nace al refugio de ríos, pequeños golfos o desembocaduras, a lo largo de los años los diques han ido creciendo y han generado una frontera entre la ciudad y el mar difícil de eliminar. Por otro lado, recientemente diversos acontecimientos han producido una considerable transformación, creándose y liberándose a la ciudad la llamada Marina Real Juan Carlos I, objeto de mi intervención en el TFM, de la cual forman parte edificios de carácter histórico como las atarazanas, nuevos como el Veles e Vents y el gran espejo de agua con fines recreativos. Teniendo en cuenta las anteriores premisas, el objetivo de este TFM es potenciar el impacto actual del puerto en la ciudad mediante intervenciones de diferente índole, manteniendo lo máximo posible su condición como puerto clave en el tráfico de mercancías a nivel mundial, respetando la herencia histórica, siguiendo las directrices de sostenibilidad ambiental, y dirigiendo la mirada a una ciudad que viva en simbiosis, que se enfrente al mar y no se esconda, una ciudad marítima.

[EN] The city of Valencia is in a flat environment, closely linked to the countryside and the coast, whose coast has been affected by the action of an artificial body of great size, impact and importance for the Valencian population. The port lies on the coast closest to the city, but it does not embrace it, but turns its back on it. It is time to reverse this situation and provide Valencia with an urban port with the necessary characteristics so that these bodies that have never joined do so as not to separate. Because our port is not born to the refuge of rivers, small gulfs or estuaries, over the years the dikes have been growing and have created a border between the city and the sea difficult to eliminate. On the other hand, recently several events have produced a considerable transformation, creating and releasing to the city the so-called Royal Navy Juan Carlos I, object of my intervention in the TFM, of which historic buildings such as the shipyards, new as the Veles e Vents and the large water mirror for recreational purposes. Taking into account the previous premises, the objective of this TFM is to enhance the current impact of the port in the city through interventions of different kinds, maintaining as much as possible its status as a key port in the global freight traffic, respecting the historical heritage , following the guidelines of environmental sustainability, and directing the gaze to a city that lives in symbiosis, that faces the sea and does not hide, a maritime city.
