[ES] El cambio del ciclo de Rankine convencional al ciclo orgánico de Rankine con sus ventajas, nuevas aplicaciones y otro tipo de nuevos conceptos o variaciones que sufre el ciclo. Nuevos problemas que surgen de este cambio como la selección del fluido orgánico adecuado, variando este en función de la fuente de calor, su uso o sus requerimientos. Además, se trata la energía solar como fuente de energía y, a su vez, la recuperación de energía que se va al ambiente de otros procesos de fabricación para el uso del mismo en otro sistema basado en el ciclo orgánico de Rankine, beneficiando así la eficiencia del primer sistema de producción, reduciendo emisiones al ambiente y abaratando los costes de producción de electricidad o calor.

[EN] In the last decades, ORC has become a more and more suitable technology for power
generation, especially when the source of heat is limited or the temperature is low.
ORCs permit to take more advantage of them with better results, in terms of efficiency
and work output, as well as reducing emission in some cases. It has substituted other
technologies like the conventional Rankine Cycle, but involving other issues, for
example, the selection of the most appropriate organic fluid, what is exclusive for each
application or the thermal stability of these fluids.
In the field of renewable energy or for waste heat recovery, the use of ORCs has been
chosen as one of the most suitable way to operate after many studies have shown its
efficiency and flexibility.
Finally, an ORC system can be setup in different ways according to the application it is
for or the available energy, but only a few of them are released to the market since this
technology is not developed enough and its suitability has to be examined.
