| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | [EN] This master thesis describes the implementation of a recent published scienti c study in the codes of the Society for Plant and Reactor Safety (GRS). The implemented method is based in the Quasi Newton algorithm and is applied to facilitate the convergence of the results of the simulations. The simulations are executed using a coupled code made up of a thermalhydraulic code, ATHLET, and a Computational Fluid Dynamics code, Open- FOAM. During the simulation, both codes are executed simultaneously, and information is exchanged in the various coupling interfaces. The new mathematical method is implemented in the function that governs the transfer of data from OpenFOAM to ATHLET and replaces a previously implemented method, the under-relaxation scheme. Several modi cations of the published method have been conducted for the successful implementation of the mathematical method in the available code, in which various functions have been modi ed. The next step was the validation of the scheme with three dierent models. These models were (1) a simple pipe, (2) a closed loop with a pump, and (3) three-way model made up of an open loop with an extra pipe. The first two models had two coupling interfaces, while the third model was a more complex design with three interfaces. The code was developed for a generic case, independent of the number of interfaces. The procedure performed for the validation was, fi rstly, the comparison of the results with the standalone simulation, a simulation executed using only ATHLET to prove that the results provided were correct. Secondly, the results of the simulation using the Quasi Newton method were compared with those obtained using the prior method, under-relaxation. In this way, the advantages that the new method presents, not only in speed of convergence but also in stability of the results, were proved. | es_ES |
