Tolcsva, Wine Bottling Plant

Abstract

[EN] Tolcsva, Hungary, 2016When designing the new bottling plant at Tolcsva, our task was to create a concept that both functionally and architecturally is worthy of the 300 years old historic wine region of Tokaj - guardian of the Hungarian wine making tradition and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. By the deliberate positioning of the buildings and by the utilization of the gaps between the halls for community functions, we tried to lighten the monumentality arising from the industrial character of the complex. The plant’s exterior appearance with its pure forms reflects the clean functionality of the interior arrangement. The pattern of the façades was inspired by the landscape; its color, structure, and layering were shaped in harmony with the gentle hills surrounding the complex.

[ES] Tolcsva, Hungría, 2016El diseño para la nueva planta de embotellado en Tolcsva, busca un concepto funcional y arquitectónicamente digno acorde a una región histórica de más de 300 años, Tokaj, guardiana de la tradición vinícola húngara y Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Mediante el estudio de la ubicación de los edificios y la utilización de los espacios intermedios para las los usos colectivos, se aligera la monumentalidad que surge del carácter industrial del complejo. La apariencia exterior de la planta con sus formas puras refleja la pulcra funcionalidad de la disposición interior. El patrón de las fachadas se inspira en el paisaje; su color, estructura y capas se forman en armonía con las suaves colinas que rodean el complejo.
