EL CLASICISMO ACADEMICISTA EN LA VALENCIA DE LA SEGUNDA MITAD DEL SIGLO XVIII: UNA MIRADA A TRAVÉS DE 3 FACHADAS DE ANTONIO GILABERT

Abstract

[EN] The second half of the 18th century, and more exactly the last third of century is a time of changes for the Valencian architecture. The creation of the “Real Academia de San Carlos de Valencia” in 1.768 will be a real landmark. The systematizing of the architectural project and its control promoted by the Academy, as well as the education of the architect will provide the exercise of the architecture with a rigorous professional and scientific character, and will originate certain conflicts with the guilds, because they will see their control on the architectural work limited . The Academy will get completely involved in the evolution of an architecture bathed in baroque dyes towards a more classicist character, and Antonio Gilabert, director of the Section of Architecture, can be considered, as paradigm of the evolution of a peculiar and typical style of the Valencian architecture in the second half of the 18th century: The Academic Classicism

[ES] La segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, y más concretamente el último tercio de siglo es una época de cambios para la arquitectura valenciana. La creación de la Real Academia de San Carlos de Valencia en 1.768 ocasionará un antes y un después. La sistematización del proyecto arquitectónico y su control, promovido por la Academia, así como de la enseñanza del arquitecto dotará al ejercicio de la arquitectura de un riguroso carácter profesional y científico, y originará ciertos conflictos con los estamentos gremiales, pues verán reducido su control sobre la obra arquitectónica. La Academia se involucrará de lleno en la evolución de una arquitectura bañada de tintes barrocos hacia un carácter más clasicista, y puede considerarse al director de su Sección de Arquitectura, Antonio Gilabert, como paradigma de la evolución de un estilo peculiar y característico de la arquitectura valenciana de la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII: El Clasicismo Académico.
