Analysis of competencies and personality traits of purchasing and supply chain professionals with a focus on innovation and sustainability

Abstract

[ES] Una empresa industrial europea típica gasta alrededor del 60% de su facturación en compras, razón principal por la que la gestión de la relación comprador-proveedor es crucial.

Además, la conciencia ambiental y un entorno cambiante colocan a las empresas en una posición de búsqueda permanente de soluciones innovadoras y sostenibles en el diseño de gestión de la cadena de suministro.

Este proyecto se centra en el estudio y análisis de las competencias de la Gestión de compras y suministros (PSM) y la influencia de los rasgos de personalidad de los profesionales no solo desde la perspectiva de una empresa individual sino también desde la perspectiva de la competitividad europea.

[EN] A typical European industrial firm spends about 60% of their turnover on purchased components and this is the main reason why management of buyer-supplier interrelationship is crucial. In addition, environmental awareness and the ever-changing context place business in a permanent search for innovative and sustainable solutions in supply chain management design and therefore, in other words, they subscribe to the principles of sustainable development: development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Hansen et al., 2009). This project focuses on the study and analysis of Purchasing and Supply Management (PSM) competencies and personality traits not only from the perspective of an individual firm but also from the perspective of European competitiveness. Analyzing competencies, capabilities and personality traits of purchasing and supply management professionals is crucial due to the ever-challenging and competitive context ruled by innovation and sustainability and the highly dynamic environment that businesses currently operate in.
