Habitar el vacío. Regeneración del entorno del canal Deûle de Lille.

Abstract

[ES] La ciudad post-industrial de Lille y el canal que la atraviesa, el Deûle, han ido distanciándose con el paso del tiempo debido a las grandes plataformas portuarias e industriales que se han ido desarrollando en sus orillas. Estas, principal sustento económico de la ciudad, junto con los cruces del canal y grandes infraestructuras ferroviarias y de carreteras han generado un vacío que asola la práctica otra mitad del espacio a bordes del canal. Este vacío, estas grietas urbanas, se transformarán en la fuente de la regeneración de la ciudad, con el objetivo de la reconexión de Lille con su entorno natural vegetal e hidrográfico y de sus gentes y sus barrios con él.

[EN] With the passage of time, the post-industrial city of Lille and the Deûle, the canal that courses through it, have become distant from each other due to the port and industrial platforms that have been developed on its shores. These platforms, the main economic resource, along with the crossing of the canal and the railway and road infrastructures, have created a vacancy that blights practically the other half of space on the edges of the canal. These vacancies - these urban fissures, would be transformed into the source of the city s regeneration, with the objective of reconnecting Lille with its natural vegetation and water supply with its citizens and their neighborhoods.
