Silencios entre suturas. Puntadas de una realidad trágica.

Abstract

[ES] A pesar de más de veinte años de batalla contra la ablación, sigue habiendo multitud de mujeres mutiladas cada día, y muchas de las afectadas mueren, mientras que las que sobreviven son condenadas a vivir en silencio limitadas por el dolor físico y psíquico que este acto traumático supone. Aunque es un problema actual, en nuestra sociedad se conoce muy poco acerca del asunto. Existe gran cantidad de público que continua preguntándose cómo y por qué se producen estos actos. De ahí nace la motivación de realizar este proyecto, en el que se pretende contribuir a visibilizar y dar voz a innumerables mujeres que no la tienen mediante una propuesta artística que simbolice la situación, con el fin de que se pueda ir aboliendo esta terrible práctica lo más rápido posible. El trabajo plástico aborda la materia como objeto tangible. Se profundiza principalmente sobre las cualidades estéticas abstractas de forma, textura y volumen que se generan a partir de la manipulación y la experimentación con diversos materiales textiles, y de las relaciones expresivas que se producen en su interacción con el soporte.

[EN] Despite over 20 years of fighting against female circumcision (ablation), there are still masses of women who are mutilated daily, many of which die, while those that survive are condemned to live in silence limited by physical and mental pain caused by this traumatic act. Although it is a current problem, it is not generally known by the public. A large amount of people wonder how and why this continues to take place nowadays. The objective of the project arises as a result of these issues, in which we hope to make people aware of it and give a voice to the uncountable number of women who have no say about it at all. The proposal through art, is to symbolize and materialize this situation and to help abolish this horrifying act as soon as possible. Through art we want this issue to become tangible by delving basically into abstract forms, textures and dimensions that are generated by manipulating and experimenting with different textile materials and the expressive relations as an outcome that are produced on the surface of the artwork.
