Centro de formación e innovación de cerámica artística en Els Rajolars

Abstract

[ES] Se plantea el reto de regenerar el borde sur del municipio de Oliva (Valencia), conocido como Els Rajolars, mediante el desarrollo de estrategias sostenibles que respeten el medio natural existente y conserven el patrimonio heredado.

Para revertir la obsolescencia gradual de esta antigua zona industrial y así evitar que llegue a convertirse en un territorio improductivo, se propone recuperar la identidad del lugar, reconectándolo física y económicamente, reivindicando la tradición como una fortaleza y lo preexistente como una herramienta a utilizar. Se trata de actuar en un territorio que tiene que adaptarse a las necesidades presentes y recuperar su estado productivo original, apelando a la innovación como motor impulsor del proyecto.

El ámbito de actuación cuenta con una fuerte identidad generada dada por las construcciones y chimeneas de las antiguas fábricas cerámicas enmarcadas en un entorno de huertos y montañas, por lo que el foco de atención se dirige al patrimonio arquitectónico y paisajístico del lugar.

Se propone un master plan que intervenga en las diferentes capas del terreno (infraestructura verde, hídrica y conexiones) y las posibles transformaciones de la edificación, concluyendo en la reintroducción de usos en las naves de Els Rajolars que reactiven esta zona en desuso, valorando positivamente la introducción de actividades innovadoras productivas vinculadas a la formación profesional. Por ello que se plantea el desarrollo de un Centro de Formación e Innovación de Cerámica Artística.

Este nuevo centro, situado en las naves asociadas a la chimenea de Gilabert-Tercero en el Paseo de los Ladrillares, tiene el objetivo de recuperar el patrimonio ligado a la histórica producción cerámica del lugar, desde un acercamiento técnico y creativo que permita proteger la tradición y abordar el desarrollo profesional de la industria artesanal desde la sostenibilidad ambiental y la innovación, convirtiéndose en una escuela referente de la costa levantina. Por otra parte, trata de ofrecer una oportunidad de desarrollo profesional, especialmente a la población más joven de Oliva afectada actualmente por el desempleo, de forma que se amplíe la oferta de estudios de la ciudad y se facilite la permanencia de estos jóvenes en el municipio.

Este centro de formación propone una metodología de aprendizaje basada en los que el estudiante participe de forma activa en todos los procesos, predominando el trabajo de taller, donde la labor manual junto con el apoyo de medios mecánicos puede converger en productos artesanos de calidad. Además, propone el ingreso de residentes que realicen sus investigaciones en innovación cerámica, generando un ambiente creativo a través de diferentes escenarios y donde el aprendizaje pueda desarrollarse desde la interacción entre estudiantes y profesionales, aprovechando la ventaja de compartir conocimiento e instalaciones. El carácter innovador reside en aspectos vinculados a generar una cultura de calidad y así proteger el patrimonio tradicional a través de obras cerámicas que pueden tener un fin funcional u ornamental.

Para materializar este centro en el entorno elegido, se propone recuperar elementos pre-existentes de especial interés que pongan en valor el patrimonio arquitectónico-industrial garantizando la sostenibilidad ambiental, y aprovechar la convivencia de los diferentes materiales y paisajes para poner en relación el exterior y el interior de las naves, con el resto de su entorno más cercano. Generando, de esta forma, diferentes escenarios de aprendizaje que se articulan desde el espacio público al más privado para favorecer la formación y el ambiente creativo.

En definitiva, contribuir a la actualización del lugar impulsando la innovación desde la memoria.

[EN] The challenge is to regenerate the southern edge of the municipality of Oliva (Valencia), known as Els Rajolars, by developing sustainable strategies that respect the existing natural environment and conserve the inherited heritage.

In order to reverse the gradual obsolescence of this old industrial area and to prevent it from becoming an unproductive territory, it is proposed to recover the identity of the place, reconnecting physically and economically, claiming tradition as a fortress and the pre-existing as a tool to use. It is about acting in a territory that has to be successful with present needs and recover its original productive state, appealing to innovation as the driving force behind the project.

The scope of action has a strong identity generated by the buildings and chimneys of the old ceramic factories framed in an environment of orchards and mountains, so the focus is on the architectural and landscape heritage of the place.

A master plan is proposed that intervenes in the different layers of the land (green infrastructure, water and connections) and the possible transformations of the building, concluding in the re-introduction of uses in the Els Rajolars warehouses that reactivated this disused area, positively evaluating the introduction of innovative productive activities related to vocational training. For this reason, the development of an Artistic Ceramic Training and Innovation Center is proposed.

This new center, located in the warehouses associated with the Gilabert-Tercero chimney on the Paseo de los Ladrillares, aims to recover the heritage linked to the historical production of ceramics in the area, from a technical and creative approach that allows protecting the tradition and approach the professional development of the artisan industry from environmental sustainability and innovation, becoming a benchmark school on the Levante coast. On the other hand, it tries to offer an opportunity for professional development, especially to the youngest population of Oliva currently affected by unemployment, so that the offer of studies in the city is expanded and the permanence of these young people in the municipality is facilitated.

This training center proposes a learning methodology based on which the student participates actively in all processes, with workshop work predominating, where the work manual together with the support of mechanical means can converge on quality artisan products. In addition, it proposes the entrance of residents who carry out their research in ceramic innovation, generating a creative environment through different situations and where learning can develop from the interaction between students and professionals, taking advantage of the knowledge and facilities sharing. The innovative character resides in aspects related to generating a quality culture and thus protecting traditional heritage through ceramic works that may have a functional or ornamental purpose.

In order to materialize this center in the chosen environment, it is proposed to recover pre-affected elements of special interest that enhance the architectural-industrial heritage, guaranteeing environmental sustainability, and the coexistence of different materials and landscapes to bring the exterior and the interior of the ships, with the rest of its closest environment. Generating, in this way, different learning scenarios that are articulated from the public to the most private space to favor training and the creative environment.
