Diseño de ilustraciones narrativas para un disco musical

Abstract

[EN]Narrative illustrations for a musical album aims to be a project as a tribute to the urban poet Mohammed Sharif Hernández Méndez "Sharif" and his more than 20 years of musical career, for the countless occasions in which he has made people who love this musical genre reflect and grow. This project consists of the process of creating digital illustrations for the album "Bajo el rayo que no cesa", an album that marked a before and after in the career of this artist, where he tells us his hardships and joys in the most sincere way possible. The work contains a cover, 4 main illustrations and another 8 secondary illustrations to complete the album, as well as a physical version of the packaging. For the creation of the illustrations plus the packaging design I base my work on the study of different references: on the one hand the most emblematic covers of the music world, on the other hand in the rap music genre and also in the study of the work of local artists who have collaborated in the design of covers for important albums. I will also explore the world of digital illustration using programs such as Procreate or Photoshop. The intention with this project is to direct all my knowledge acquired throughout these four years of college, thus bringing together two of my passions that have made me the person I am today: rap and illustration. My main goal is the union of these two artistic disciplines in order to thank artists like Sharif for the role they play in the daily life of their listeners

[ES] Ilustraciones narrativas para un disco musical pretende ser un proyecto como homenaje al poeta urbano Mohammed Sharif Hernández Méndez “Sharif” y sus más de 20 años de carrera musical, por las incontables ocasiones en las que ha hecho reflexionar y crecer a la gente que ama este género musical. Este proyecto consiste en el proceso de creación de ilustraciones digitales para el disco “Bajo el rayo que no cesa”. El trabajo contiene una portada, 4 ilustraciones principales y otras 8 secundarias para completar el disco, además de una versión física del packaging. Para la creación de las ilustraciones más el diseño del packaging me baso en el estudio de diferentes referentes: por un lado las portadas más emblemáticas del mundo de la música, por otro lado en el género musical del rap y además, en el estudio de la obra de artistas locales que han colaborado en el diseño de portadas para álbumes importantes. También exploraré el mundo de la ilustración digital mediante programas como Procreate o Photoshop. La intención con este proyecto es el de dirigir todos mis conocimientos adquiridos a lo largo de estos cuatro años de carrera universitaria, juntando así dos de mis pasiones que han hecho de mí la persona que soy hoy: el rap y la ilustración. Mi objetivo principal es la unión de estas dos disciplinas artísticas para así poder agradecer a artistas como Sharif el papel que tienen en el día a día en sus oyentes.
