Nueva Piel: de la creación de prótesis escultóricas

Abstract

[ES] Nueva piel: de la creación de prótesis corporales es un proyecto escultórico de carácter teórico-práctico que constituye un paso más en un discurso entre cuerpo y artilugio, así como la sinergia surgida entre ambos en la práctica artística. Desde este punto, son varios los intereses que atraviesan la realización de las piezas, como lo ha sido la cultura cíborg y sus múltiples interpretaciones, pasando por los ensayos de Dona Haraway, La Nueva Carne de David Cronenberg, o artistas como Stelarc. Lecturas que apelan directamente a los avances tecnológicos y sus múltiples repercusiones políticas, sociales y emocionales, que han transformado las relaciones humanas creando nuevos paradigmas globales con sus consecuentes problemáticas: Modernidad y Holocausto (1989) por Zygmunt Bauman, o Pornotopía. Arquitectura y sexualidad en ¿Playboy¿ durante la guerra fría, de Paul B. Preciado, entre otras lecturas que indicen de forma evidente en la metamorfosis global condicionada en parte por el desarrollo tecnológico. En lo que concierne a la práctica, partiendo de los alicientes teóricos, han surgido prótesis corporales que modifican la apariencia mediante funciones premeditadas, más concretamente la fluctuación de líquidos como fundamento formal y visual. En el presente trabajo se pretende hacer hincapié en la utilización del propio cuerpo como matriz escultórica, y en cómo la demanda por parte del terreno audiovisual ha transfigurado las connotaciones de los artilugios protésicos, que han sido utilizados por otras personas. En esta parte, se prestará especial atención a proyectos concretos que han bifurcado los senderos de la obra, alejándola del cuerpo del artista y brindándole una multiplicidad de matices relacionados con el terreno laboral, audiovisual y, en especial, con el terreno de los videoclips.

[EN] New skin: from the creation of body prostheses is a sculptural project of a theoretical-practical nature that constitutes a further step in a discourse between body and device, as well as the synergy between the two in artistic practice. From this point, there are several interests that cross the realization of the pieces, as it has been the cyborg culture and its multiple interpretations, going by the essays of Dona Haraway, The New Meat of David Cronenberg, or artists like Stelarc. Readings that appeal directly to technological advances and their multiple political, social and emotional repercussions, which have transformed human relations by creating new global paradigms with their consequent problems: Modernity and Holocaust (1989) by Zygmunt Bauman, or Pornotopia. Architecture and Sexuality in "Playboy" during the Cold War, by Paul B. Precious, among other readings that clearly indicate in the global metamorphosis conditioned in part by technological development. As far as practice is concerned, based on theoretical incentives, body prostheses have emerged that modify the appearance through premeditated functions, more specifically the fluctuation of liquids as a formal and visual foundation.In the present work it is intended to emphasize the use of the body itself as a sculptural matrix, and how the demand on the part of the audiovisual field has transfigured the connotations of prosthetic artifacts, which have been used by other people. In this part, special attention will be paid to concrete projects that have bifurcated the paths of the work, taking it away from the artist¿s body and giving it a multiplicity of nuances related to the work, audiovisual and, in particular, with the field of video clips.
