CoYoTexT: Herramienta de ayuda al escritor: Front End, Usuarios y ficheros

Abstract

[ES] El proyecto propuesto CoYoTexT (Correct Your Text) consiste en el análisis, diseño e implementación de una plataforma Online orientada a la ayuda a la creación literaria. Si bien posee también algunas herramientas básicas de tratamiento de textos, no es esta su principal función. Sabemos que la corrección de textos para su publicación es una de las tareas más costosas en el ciclo editorial y que este proceso no conlleva únicamente correcciones ortográficas y sintácticas; a ellas se unen múltiples ajustes de estilo que implican muchas horas de trabajo por parte del editor. Frente a las primeras, las correcciones de estilo no son fácilmente automatizables. La mayoría de los escritores con experiencia han desarrollado un conjunto de pautas que permiten mejorar sus textos antes de pasar a manos del editor, reduciendo la tarea de corrección. Sin embargo, los autores noveles no tienen estos conocimientos y en muchos casos dejan que su obra quede relegada al olvido por errores básicos de corrección. Este proyecto parte de la experiencia personal de un escritor, con fuertes vínculos con el mundo editorial, que pone a disposición de los alumnos sus métodos de trabajo para implementar una plataforma web que ofrezca servicios avanzados de corrección. Se orienta especialmente hacia todo tipo de escritores, aunque será especialmente útil para los noveles u ocasionales que deseen incrementar la calidad de sus textos, al detectar los errores de estilo más frecuentes y sugerir expresiones alternativas. Para ello, contarán con diversos algoritmos de verificación y corrección de estilo que podrán aplicar a sus textos. La utilización de estos, así como el tiempo de corrección empleado por el autor, quedan registrados y cuantificados. La plataforma también proporcionará al autor herramientas auxiliares para desarrollar su labor de manera ordenada, clasificable y explotable para futuros certificados que acrediten el estado de corrección de la obra. De entre los muchos que se podrá aplicar en el futuro, contemplamos los siguientes como los más importantes: - Resumen de capítulos. - Valoración numérica subjetiva de diversos aspectos de la obra. - Obtención de gráficas y estadísticas con relación a la trama. - Gestión de argumentos y tramas. - Repositorio de textos desestimados - Biografías, cronologías, árboles genealógicos y ubicaciones. - Gestión del proceso creativo: tareas, plazos, etc. La plataforma se orienta, en primera instancia, hacia la producción de textos narrativos (de 5 a 300 páginas o más). Permitirá la presentación de la obra a una editorial, adjuntando un certificado que refleje el proceso de corrección: número de horas empleadas, cambios efectuados, algoritmos aplicados, etc. Esta información será la radiografía de la obra y constituye la esencia objetiva de sus grandes valores que, junto a los gráficos, resúmenes de la obra y demás datos, resultará de extraordinario interés para los editores. También se contempla la inclusión de otras ayudas para la creación literaria, como pueden ser blogs especializados (tanto dentro como fuera de la plataforma) o enlaces a páginas de información sobre gramática y estilo (RAE, Wikipedia, etc.), o enlaces a plataformas de auto-publicación.

[EN] The proposed project CoYoTexT (Correct Your Text) is about the analysis, design, and implementation of an online platform to provide proofreading and text-editing help. Although it provides some text writing capabilities, this is not the main goal of this tool. We all know that book editing with the goal of publishing is one of the costliest tasks in the publishing cycle and that this process not only entails proofreading and hunting for spelling and syntactic mistakes; besides, but we must also add style adjustments which incur in many hours of work to be done by an editor. These style corrections are not easily automated. Most experienced writers have developed a set of guidelines which allow them to improve their works before handing them to an editor, helping them reduce the time spent on editing. However, novice writers do not possess this knowledge, and, in many cases, they forsake their drafts due to simple editing mistakes. This project rests on the foundation of the personal experience of a writer with strong connections to the book publishing world, whose approach with regards to this subject will be used to build a web platform to provide advanced editing services. This platform is aimed at all kinds of writers, although it is especially useful for novice or occasional writers who want to improve the quality of their texts by detecting the most common style errors in the way they write and suggesting alternative expressions. To this end, the tool will provide several verification algorithms and style corrections to correct their texts. The use of these tools, as well as the time employed to perform these improvements will be recorded and quantified. The platform also aims to provide authors with ancillary tools they can use to develop their work in an organized, classifiable, and usable fashion, which allows us to create certificates to attest the degree of editing maturity of a given work. Next, we will list some of the most important tools we plan to develop: - Chapter summaries. - Assignment of numerical values to diverse aspects of the work. - Generation of charts and statistics about the plot. - Plot management. - Repository for discarded texts. - Biographies, chronologies, family tree and locations. - Creative process management: tasks, deadlines, etc. The platform's purpose is, first and foremost, to produce narrative texts, starting at 5 pages and up to 300 pages or more. It will grant to possibility to submit said texts to a book publisher alongside a certificate to verify the editing process: time spent, changes made, applied algorithms, etc. These stats, along with the aforementioned charts, summaries and other data will be used to objectively prove the quality of the book and will be of extreme interest to publishers and editors. We are also planning to include other types of resources, such as specialized blogs (both inside and outside the platform) and links to websites with information on grammar and style (RAE, Wikipedia, etc.) or links to self-publishing platforms.
