Complejidad del espacio público en la reforma interior de Valencia a finales del S.XIX. Esquema viario resultante y su influencia en la morfología urbana.

Abstract

[ES] El siguiente trabajo de investigación está motivado por la necesidad de entender, desde un punto de vista arquitectónico y urbanístico, la estructura morfológica actual del centro de la ciudad de Valencia. Por otra parte, al realizar este trabajo tenemos la oportunidad de conocer parte de la historia reciente de la ciudad de Valencia desde el punto de vista de las necesidades urbanas. Para situarnos en el entorno en el que se centra el trabajo y comprender el estado actual del centro de Valencia, realizamos un pequeño recorrido por la historia morfológica a través de algunos de los planos más representativos de la ciudad, lo que nos proporciona información para entender los cambios más influyentes en su morfología, hasta el momento en el que se llevan a cabo los procesos que se estudian en el trabajo. A finales del siglo XIX, se llevan a cabo dos de las mayores reformas urbanísticas, la ley de Reforma Interior y la ley de Ensanche, el resultado de estas dos reformas nos da la morfología actual de la ciudad de Valencia, por ello, estudiamos el contexto sociocultural del momento en el que se llevaron a cabo y las necesidades de la ciudad a las que respondían estas reformas urbanísticas, también comparamos ambos procesos para conocer sus similitudes y diferencias. Finalmente, el objeto de estudio es el espacio público que se genera tras estas reformas, por ello realizamos un análisis y comparación de estos espacios que han sido creados o renovados, centrándonos en calles, plazas y pasajes que se vieron afectadas por las reformas, y comentamos la posible evolución futura de la morfología urbana.

[EN] The city of Valencia, one of the most important cities in the Mediterranean, as all cities has been affected by many changes, caused by different factors, which have led the city to evolve to the current morphology. The following research work is motivated by the need to understand, from an architectural and urban point of view, the current morphological structure of the city center of Valencia. On the other hand, when doing this work, we can know part of the recent history of the city of Valencia from the point of view of urban needs. To position ourselves in the environment in which the work is focused and understand the current state of the center of Valencia, we take a short tour of the morphological history through some of the most representative plans of the city, which provides us with information to understand the most influential changes in its morphology, until the moment when the processes that are studied in the work are carried out. At the end of the nineteenth century, two of the major urban reforms are carried out, “la Ley de Reforma Interior” and “la Ley de Ensanche”, the result of these two reforms gives us the current morphology of the city of Valencia, so we studied the sociocultural context of the moment when they were carried out and the needs of the city to which these urban reforms responded, we also compare both processes to know their similarities and differences. Finally, the object of study is the public space that is generated after these reforms, so we carry out an analysis and comparison of these spaces that have been created or renovated, focusing on streets, squares and passages that were affected by the reforms, and we comment on the possible future evolution of urban morphology.
