Hotel-Spa "La Foia de Castalla".

Abstract

[ES] La ubicación y el programa del presente proyecto han venido condicionados por la firme intención de iniciar un proceso de regeneración que ponga freno al estancamiento socioeconómico y la situación de vulnerabilidad urbana que sufre actualmente el Centro Histórico de Castalla. El hotel-spa pretende configurarse discretamente como un nuevo motor económico para el barrio y el municipio, atrayendo un turismo de calidad durante todo el año y estimulando la inversión económica en la zona. Su implantación viene condicionada por una estrategia urbanística muy clara: mejorar las conexiones entre el centro histórico y la ladera de la montaña sobre la que se asienta, recuperando así una zona de gran potencial paisajístico. Para ello se establece un nuevo itinerario peatonal anexo al pueblo que incorpora espacios destinados al recreo, el ocio y la cultura. En este espacio limítrofe entre lo natural y lo urbano, definido por la estructura de los antiguos bancales y bajo la sombra del castillo, es donde se sitúa el hotel. La actuación incluye la modificación del espacio público adyacente y busca minimizar las barreras topográficas existentes, modificando o creando nuevos recorridos desde el pueblo y la zona de la montaña. Con el fin de reducir su impacto en el paisaje, la edificación se integra en el terreno sin sobresalir demasiado, permitiendo la continuidad visual hacia el valle. La materialidad másica de los muros estructurales, la discontinuidad volumétrica o el uso de cubiertas vegetales constituyen mecanismos compositivos que persiguen cierta mímesis con su entorno y configuran una intervención respetuosa con el paisaje.

[EN] The location and the program of the present project have been conditioned by the main intention of starting a process of regeneration, putting a brake on the socio-economic stagnation and the situation of urban vulnerability that currently characterizes the Historic Center of Castalla. The spa hotel aims to be discreetly configured as a new economic engine for the neighborhood and the municipality, attracting quality tourism throughout the year and stimulating economic investment in the area. Its implementation comes with a very clear urban strategy: to improve connections between the historic center and the mountainside on which an area of great landscape potential is recovered. For this, a new pedestrian itinerary annexed to the town is included, which incorporates spaces for recreation, leisure and culture. This space that includes the natural and the urban, the structure of the old banks under the castle shadow is where the hotel is. The intervention includes the modification of the adjacent public space and seeks to minimize the topographical barriers, modifying or creating new routes from the town and the mountain area. In order to reduce its impact on the landscape, the building is integrated into the land without exceeding too much, in order to achieve visual continuity towards the valley. The broader materiality of the structural walls, the volumetric discontinuity or the use of green roofs, that pursue certain mimesis with their surroundings and configure a respectful intervention with the landscape.
