Luz natural y atmósfera en la obra de Carlo Scarpa y Peter Zumthor.

Abstract

[ES] La finalidad de este trabajo es llevar a cabo un análisis de la forma en la que dos grandes maestros de la arquitectura, Carlo Scarpa y Peter Zumthor trabajan la luz natural, convirtiéndola en uno de los elementos protagonistas de muchas de sus obras arquitectónicas. Aunque nos encontremos ante dos arquitectos pertenecientes a periodos cronológicos distintos y con lenguajes arquitectónicos aparentemente muy diferentes, ambos comparten un especial interés en el trabajo con la luz natural como herramienta para la creación de ambientes, para la consecución de una atmósfera particular y concreta. Para conocer los métodos mediante los cuales tanto Carlo Scarpa como Peter Zumthor consiguen esas atmósferas, se va a realizar un estudio individual y comparativo centrado en la manipulación de la luz. Paralelamente se estudiará el objetivo que tiene cada arquitecto en cada caso, según las sensaciones que quiere crear en el usuario, remarcando la interacción con las restantes decisiones que establecen su código semántico y el carácter representativo en sus obras.

[EN] The purpose of this work is to analyse the way in which two great masters of architecture, Carlo Scarpa and Peter Zumthor, work with natural light, making it one of the main elements in many of their architectural works. Although we are dealing with two architects belonging to different chronological periods and with apparently very different architectural languages, both share a special interest in working with natural light as a tool for creating ambiences, for achieving a particular and specific atmosphere. In order to learn about the methods by which both Carlo Scarpa and Peter Zumthor achieve these atmospheres, an individual and comparative study will be carried out focusing on the manipulation of light. At the same time, the objective that each architect has in each case will be studied, according to the sensations that they want to create in the user, highlighting the interaction with the other decisions that establish their semantic code and the representative character of their works.
