Proyecto de reconversión de cantera en cementerio.

Abstract

[ES] El trabajo surgió desde la disyuntiva entre proyectar para vivos y proyectar para muertos. Este trabajo tiene por objeto de análisis los cementerios y los métodos de proyectar la arquitectura para los difuntos, enfocado, además, en la rehabilitación paisajística de una cantera abandonada en la ciudad italiana de Palermo, en Sicilia. El trabajo se estudia desde la perspectiva de los cementerios, la visión de los cementerios históricos y los paisajistas, viendo los tradicionales en la cultura palermitana y los que se llevaron a cabo en otras partes del mundo en el siglo XX, aquellos que tenían en cuenta el lugar en el que se asentaban y lo utilizaban para mejorar la atmosfera del cementerio. También se tiene presente la perspectiva de rehabilitación de la cantera, por ello el estudio de los cementerios paisajísticos. El proyecto se ubica en una cantera, lo cual hace fundamental la visión paisajística para mejorar el espacio en el que se encuentra. Por otra parte, también es fundamental la cantera en este proyecto, ya que esta proporciona caminos y una orografía ya alterada y preparada para su utilización, por lo que el proyecto pretende cambiar lo mínimo la orografía ya presentada y, únicamente, regularizarla y utilizar ese suelo para el hormigón que se va a utilizar.

[EN] This Master's thesis arises from the dilemma between either designing for the alive or the deceised. The objective of the project is to analyse the cemeteries as well as the range of methods used to approach the architecture aimed for the deceised. Furthermore, it focuses on the rehabilitation of an abandoned quarry in the italian city of Palermo, Sicily. The project focuses on the perspective of historical and landscape cementeries, both the traditional ones from Palermo and the ones built worldwide during the 20th century. Those in which the settlement area was taken into account and used to enhance the cemetery's atmosphere. The perspective of the rehabilitation of the quarry is also taken into account, hence the study of the landscape cemeteries. The project site is a quarry, therefore a landscape approach is vital in order to improve the location. Moreover, the quarry is also essential in this project because it provides paths and a terrain which has already been altered and it is ready to be use. Consequently, the project intends to cause minimum disturbance by just leveling the land and use the ground for the concrete that will be used.
