Fire Resistance Certification for a Cable Management System According to Din 4102-12

Abstract

[EN] This project is a result of four months of research and project management operations in order to perform a fire resistance test on a range of Schneider Electric mesh cable tray systems by Research and Development team responsible of this product. The main goal of carrying out such a test is achieving of an AbP certificate according to DIN 4102- part 12 Standard for Defem Mesh Tray range. AbP certificate, or Allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Prüfzeugnisse1 , is the General Appraisal Certificate mostly intended for German market, but which has also become an international reference mark in terms of fire safety. With all that, in most European countries, an AbP certificate represents an essential marketing strategy in order to gain customers by offering them better safety coverage proven by authorized and homologated certification bodies, located mostly in Germany. This final degree proposal includes the whole development of this fire resistance test, gathering both, the knowledge acquired during the Industrial Design Degree and the experience attained as a project manager throughout the training in Schneider Electric.
