dc.description.abstract | [EN] The future air transport system will be confronted with new challenges: it must be safer, greener and more effective than the current system (European, 2001, Flightpath, 2011, Next, 2004, Strategic, 2001, 2004). All these have influences on aircraft take-off and landing (TOL) and generate needs in the development of radically new technologies, methods and structural solutions for TOL process completion. There are many different ideas to improve TOL. Some of them may improve the existing technology, reducing the take off and landing distance or speeds. Other may initiate take off radical changes in aircraft take take-off and landing processes, by introducing unconventional and revolutionary new technologies. Using ground power to launch an aircraft is one of the potential enabling technologies, as it cuts the required engine take off thrust (power) and decrease the aircraft empty weight, take-off which will considerably reduce the noise as well as the emitted chemical emissions. From the various potential technologies to perform ground based TOL, GABRIEL is ground based based on magnetic levitation, as this found to bring numerous benefits for the present and future air transportation | es_ES |
