Abstract

[ES] El presente proyecto surge de la necesidad de conectar la Huerta de Vera con la ciudad de Valencia para incluirla de manera activa en la vida de sus habitantes. En la actualidad la zona de intervención se presenta como una gran extensión de terreno en forma de triángulo, delimitado por la Autovía V-21, al oeste; la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, al sur y las vías del tren, al este. Estos límites suponen unas barreras arquitectónicas que impiden la conexión huerta-ciudad, lo que ha provocado el deterioro y olvido de ésta. El proyecto propone mitigar dichas barreras enterrando en trinchera las vías del tren y creando pasos inferiores agradables para el usuario. Se conseguirá así una relación directa con los Poblados Marítimos y, a través del antiguo camino de Farinós, con Benimaclet.

Dentro del triángulo seleccionado, el proyecto se ubica cerca del límite con las vías del tren y se apoya en los cuatro caminos que junto con la huerta cruzan a la ciudad. Vinculado a cada camino se desarrolla un tipo de programa encaminado a reactivar la huerta. En primer lugar, se proyecta una escuela agrícola que permita formar futuros agricultores; luego, se plantea una cooperativa de puntos de venta cercanos que ayude a los agricultores a obtener mayor beneficio de sus minifundios. Por último, una zona cultural y de museo para concienciar y enseñar a la ciudadanía el valor de la huerta.

[EN] This project arises from the need to connect Huerta de Vera to the city of Valencia, including it more actively into the lives of its inhabitants. At present, the intervention area is conformed by a large area of land forming a triangle, demarcated by the V-21 highway to the west, the Polytechnic University of Valencia to he south and the railway tracks to the east. These boundaries create architectural barriers that prevent the orchard from being connected to the city, which has lead to its current state of deterioration and oblivion. The project intends to mitigate these barriers by burying the railway tracks in trenches in order to create hassle-free and pleasant underpasses for people. Therefore, a direct connection should be provided between the Maritime Village and Benimaclet, across the old Farinós road.

Inside the selected triangle, the project takes place near the boundaries to the railway tracks and is focused on the four roads that, along with the orchard, cross to the city. We aim to develop a specific type of programme for each road to achieve a proper reactivation of the orchard. In the firs place, an agricultural school is planned as a building to hold capacity-training programmes for farmers. Besides, a cooperative based on local selling points to enhance the productivity of the smallholdings. Finally, a cultural area and a museum to raise awareness among citizens about the several values of the orchard.
