Híbrido en La Torre: Centro cívico en La Torre.

Abstract

[ES] Al sur de la ciudad de Valencia, en el linde con el nuevo cauce del río Turia, se encuentra la pedanía de La Torre, donde se plantea desarrollar un nuevo edificio híbrido. La Torre pertenece al distrito de los poblados del sur, los cuales, se han ido desarrollando alrededor del Camí Real, tradicional punto de comunicación con la ciudad de Valencia. Este proyecto se plantea en un punto estratégico del Camí Real de Madrid. El edificio se coloca en un punto casi central del tramo del Camí Real que atraviesa longitudinalmente toda la pedanía de La Torre y, al mismo tiempo, se sitúa en el centro de la parte más tradicional de La Torre pero muy cerca de la zona de Sociópolis, fomentando tanto la comunicación como la relación entre estas dos zonas. En conclusión, esta ubicación busca romper con la linealidad con la que se ha ido desarrollando la pedanía y crear un nexo de unión transversal con la parte oeste donde se sitúa el proyecto Sociopolis. La concepción de este proyecto tiene su base en dos ejes principales: romper con la separación existente entre la zona más tradicional de La Torre y Sociópolis, como se ha explicado anteriormente, y centrarse en las necesidades del ser humano, de la persona. Se plantea como un punto de reunión de todos los habitantes de la pedanía pero al mismo tiempo se quiere crear un espacio para las personas, un espacio social y cultural donde poder desarrollar algunas de las necesidades más básicas del ser humano. Estos últimos meses de crisis sanitaria han venido acompañados de un gran aluvión de reflexiones en todos los campos del conocimiento, y con ello, también en el de la arquitectura. Este proyecto nace de una de esas reflexiones sobre como cuidarnos a nosotros mismo, en los últimos meses ha quedado latente que tres de las necesidades fundamentales que tiene el ser humano son: socialización, cultura y salud física. Por ello, estos son los tres elementos que conforma el programa: - Tradicionalmente los mercados de los barrios han sido un gran punto de encuentro y socialización para las personas, por lo cual, se plantea un mercado con puestos que pueden ser ocupados tanto por comerciantes del barrio como por personas independientes que quieren vender los productos de su huerta y, junto a este, un restaurante donde poder degustar estos mismo productos y un espacio de actividades vinculadas a la cocina donde realizar talleres gastronómicos para todas las edades. - La cultura es un bien inmaterial imprescindible, por ello, se busca dotar a La Torre de un espacio público donde poder cultivarla y desarrollarla mediante espacios flexibles, con posibilidad de albergar diferentes actividades según las necesidades como talleres, representaciones teatrales, exposiciones, pequeños conciertos, espacios dedicados a la lectura... Además de zonas especialmente enfocadas para los más jóvenes de trabajo en grupo e independiente. - Por último, el programa acoge un espacio destinado al ejercicio físico, un gimnasio vinculado a una gran zona exterior donde poder realizar ejercicio físico tanto en interior como en exterior. Respecto a la materialidad, se busca no destacar en exceso en el ambiente urbano en el que se encuentra. En el exterior se combina el hormigón visto con los grandes paneles de vidrio que permitan crear un interior bañado por la iluminación natural. Del mismo modo, se quiere hacer un guiño a la tradición cerámica de la zona mediante la incorporación de celosías en diferentes puntos del proyecto. En el interior se combinan de nuevo estos mismo materiales buscando crear ambientes sobrios pero cálidos adaptándose cada ambiente a la actividad que en el se desarrolla.

[EN] In the south of the city of Valencia, on the border with the new Turia riverbed, is the district of La Torre, where the development of a new hybrid building is planned. La Torre belongs to the district of the southern settlements, which have been developing around the Camí Real, a traditional point of communication with the city of Valencia.

This project is proposed at a strategic point on the Camí Real de Madrid. The building is placed in an almost central point of the section of the Camí Real that crosses longitudinally the entire district of La Torre and, at the same time, it is located in the centre of the most traditional part of La Torre but very close to the Sociópolis area, promoting both communication and the relationship between these two areas. In conclusion, this location seeks to break with the linearity with which the district has been developing and to create a transverse link with the western part where the Sociopolis project is located.

The conception of this project is based on two main axes: to break with the existing separation between the more traditional area of La Torre and Sociopolis, as explained above, and to focus on the needs of the human being, of the person. The idea is to create a meeting point for all the inhabitants of the district, but at the same time to create a space for people, a social and cultural space where they can develop some of the most basic needs of human beings.

These last months of health crisis have been accompanied by a great flood of reflections in all fields of knowledge, and with it, also in the field of architecture. This project stems from one of these reflections on how to take care of ourselves. In recent months it has become clear that three of the fundamental needs of human beings are: socialisation, culture and physical health. Therefore, these are the three elements that make up the programme: - Traditionally, neighbourhood markets have been a great meeting and socialising point for people, which is why we are proposing a market with stalls that can be occupied by both neighbourhood traders and independent people who want to sell the produce from their garden and, next to this, a restaurant where these same products can be tasted and a space for activities linked to cooking where gastronomic workshops can be held for all ages. - Culture is an essential intangible asset, which is why the aim is to provide La Torre with a public space where it can be cultivated and developed through flexible spaces, with the possibility of hosting different activities according to needs, such as workshops, theatre performances, exhibitions, small concerts, spaces dedicated to reading... In addition to areas especially focused on group and independent work for the youngest members of the community. - Finally, the programme includes a space for physical exercise, a gymnasium linked to a large outdoor area where physical exercise can be carried out both indoors and outdoors. With regard to the materiality, the aim is not to stand out too much in the urban environment in which it is located. On the outside, exposed concrete is combined with large glass panels to create an interior bathed in natural light. In the same way, a nod to the ceramic tradition of the area is intended by incorporating lattices at different points in the project. In the interior, these same materials are again combined to create sober but warm atmospheres, adapting each ambience to the activity that takes place in it.
