Experimental analysis of the aerodynamics of a wing in the wake of a circular cylinder

Abstract

[EN] This thesis consists in the experimental study of the aerodynamics of a symmetric wing (NACA0016) under a flow affected by the wake of a circular cylinder of 10 cm of diameter. First, the isolated wing will be studied and the aerodynamic coefficients will be obtained for different Reynolds number and incidences. Then, the same study will be made with the cylinder located before the wing at different vertical and horizontal distances to observe how the coefficients change and find an explanation. The objective of this study is to know how aircraft work under wakes produced by bodies located before them, two examples for this could be formation flights and take-offs in carriers. Also, in nature, flights of birds in groups are also related to this experiment. For this, a study about the cylinder and how bluff bodies change the flow that passes throw them will also be made

[ES] En este trabajo se realizará un análisis experimental de la aerodinámica de un ala con perfil simétrico (NACA0016) situada en la estela de un cilindro circular de 10 cm de diámetro. En primer lugar, se estudiará el caso del ala aislada, cuantificando sus coeficientes aerodinámicos para diferentes números de Reynolds e incidencias. Posteriormente, se realizará el mismo estudio incluyendo el cilindro aguas arriba del ala a diferentes distancias horizontales y verticales para observar y explicar los cambios en el comportamiento del ala. El objetivo del estudio es mejorar el conocimiento sobre cómo se comporta un ala de aeronave al ser sometida a la estela de un cuerpo anterior.
