Propuesta de Intervención del Panteón Familiar Roger Martínez (Cementerio General de Valencia).

Abstract

[ES] Los cementerios llevan consigo una gran carga simbólica al ser un espacio donde se manifiesta la historia y conmemoración de los que alguna vez estuvieron entre nosotros. La historia se muestra también en las esculturas que albergan en sí, desde su aspecto técnico hasta los deterioros presentes. El siguiente Trabajo Fin de Grado tiene como objetivo principal plantear una propuesta de intervención acerca del panteón funerario de Roger Martínez, obra de Eugenio Carbonell Mir, ubicada en el Cementerio General de Valencia. La escultura, tallada en mármol de Carrara hacia 1915-1933, representa un corazón de Jesús sentado bendiciendo con la cruz a su espalda. Con el paso del tiempo el material pétreo ha sufrido múltiples deterioros que alteran su estructura física y apariencia estética como son la aparición de costras negras, faltantes, grietas, colonización biológica, estallidos, enmugrecimiento, escorrentías, tintes, deyecciones de palomas y alteraciones cromáticas propias de la piedra. Asimismo, se persiguieron una serie de objetivos específicos como fue documentar e investigar los aspectos históricos/estilísticos de la obra, su estructura, la técnica y los materiales empleados por el autor en la pieza. De igual modo, se identificaron las causas de deterioro que precisaron el diagnóstico de la escultura y, finalmente, se plantearon las diferentes fases estratégicas de la propuesta de intervención.

[EN] Cemeteries carry a great symbolic charge within as they are a space where history and commemoration of those who were once among us are manifested. History is also shown in the sculptures located inside, from their technical aspect to their visible deterioration. The main objective of the following Final Degree Project is to propose a restoration proposal concerning the funeral pantheon of Roger Martínez, work of Eugenio Carbonell Mir, located in the General Cemetery of Valencia. The sculpture, carved on Carrara marble around 1915-1933, represents a seated heart of Jesus blessing with the cross behind him. Over time, the stone material has suffered multiple deteriorations that altered its physical structure and aesthetic appearance, such as the appearance of black crust, missing parts, cracks, biological colonization, bursts, soiling, runoff, deposit of pigeon droppings and chromatic alterations from the stone itself. Likewise, a series of specific objectives were pursued, such as documenting and investigating the historical/stylistic aspects of the art piece, it¿s structure, the technique and the materials used by the artist. In addition, the identification of the causes of deterioration that required the diagnosis of the sculpture were identified and, finally, different strategic phases to undertake the intervention proposal were raised.
