Un pequeño retrato del pintor George M. Haushalter. Estudio histórico-técnico y proceso de intervención

Abstract

[ES] En este Trabajo Final de Grado (TFG) se presenta el estudio histórico y técnico de un retrato del pintor estadounidense George M. Haushalter. Se trata de un óleo sobre lienzo de pequeñas dimensiones, pintado en 1893 y perteneciente a una colección particular. Se encuentra firmado, fechado y dedicado en su esquina inferior derecha. Después de su documentación fotográfica y contextualización histórica se han examinado a nivel técnico los elementos que constituyen la obra, desde su soporte textil y bastidor, hasta los estratos de preparación y pintura. Se ha analizado el estado de conservación con el objetivo de determinar el comportamiento de sus materiales frente a los principales factores de deterioro, para lo cual se han efectuado mapeados o croquis de daños. Finalmente, de acuerdo con sus patologías, se han implementado los procesos de conservación curativa y restauración necesarios para estabilizar sus estructuras y optimizar su legibilidad. También ha sido importante establecer unas pautas de conservación preventiva con el objetivo de garantizar y prolongar su perdurabilidad en el tiempo.

[EN] This Final Degree Project (TFG) presents the historical and technical study of a portrait by the American painter George M. Haushalter. It is a small oil on canvas, painted in 1893 and belonging to a private collection. It is signed, dated, and dedicated in the lower right-hand corner. After its photographic documentation and historical contextualisation, the elements that make up the work were examined at a technical level, from its textile support and stretcher to the layers of preparation and painting. The state of conservation was analysed to determine the behaviour of its materials in the face of the main factors of deterioration, for which purpose damage mappings or sketches were made. Finally, in accordance with their pathologies, the necessary curative conservation and restoration processes were implemented to stabilise their structures and optimise their legibility. It has also been important to establish preventive conservation guidelines with the aim of guaranteeing and prolonging their durability over time.
