| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | [EN] With the purpose of finding alternatives to fossil sources for the production of chemical products, the present master's thesis will focus on the development of effective catalytic processes from a sustainable point of view. The aim of this thesis is the catalytic valorization of biomass-derived chemicals to obtain high added-value products of industrial interest. Particularly, the generation of 2-methylpyrazine (2-MP) by reductive cyclo-amination of acetol (biomass derivative obtained by glycerol dehydration) with ethylenediamine followed by consecutive dehydrogenation over a solid catalyst in a continuous flow system was studied. To generate the nitrogen heterocycle, a series of nanoparticles of non-noble metals supported on different metal oxides was prepared. The metals chosen for this study were Cu, Co and Ni and each one of them were supported on both ZrO2-m and Al2O3-npw. The metals incorporation onto the supports was carried out by two different methods: reverse micelle formation and incipient wetness impregnation. After that, structural and compositional characterization of the prepared solid materials was performed via different techniques, such as ICP, BET technique, XRD, HR-TEM, and HR-SEM, among others to determine the main physicochemical and textural properties of the materials. After that, the catalytic activity of the non-noble metal supported nanoparticles was tested in the continuous flow production of 2-methylpyrazine (2-MP), by comparing the activity between different metals, supporting materials and synthetic procedures to evaluate the best options for the generation of our product of interest. Thus, Cu species supported by means of the reverse micelle method (RM) on ZrO2-m and Al2O3-npw resulted in highly active and selective catalysts for the direct synthesis of 2-MP from acetol and diethylamine. This strategy offers an alternative and sustainable route for obtaining N-heterocycles from renewable raw materials. | es_ES |
