ESTUDIO, PROPUESTA E INTERVENCIÓN RESTAURATIVA DE UN CONJUNTO DE VÉRTEBRAS DORSALES DE ESTEGOSAURIO

Abstract

[ES] En el siguiente Trabajo Final de Grado se detalla el proceso de intervención de un conjunto de vértebras fosilizadas, pertenecientes a un espécimen de dinosaurio, en concreto un estegosaurio. Se trata de un conjunto de tres vértebras dorsales, junto a un fragmento de costilla, halladas relativamente juntas en el yacimiento. Las piezas se recibieron fragmentadas y embaladas sin ser intervenidas desde la excavación. Por lo que, algunos de los fragmentos aún se encontraban incluidos en la matriz arenosa en la que fosilizaron. En el apartado teórico de este trabajo se detallan debidamente el contexto geográfico y geológico a los que pertenecen los especímenes, identificando estos a nivel taxonómico y anatómico. A continuación, se aborda el estudio y análisis individualizado de los estados iniciales de conservación que presentan cada pieza y se elabora una propuesta de intervención. En el apartado práctico, se abordan los tratamientos de intervención de carácter restaurativo, donde se muestran los diversos procesos que se han llevado a cabo en el material paleontológico, con la finalidad de garantizar su estabilidad tanto para facilitar su manipulación para el estudio, como para su posible exposición. Para finalizar, se ha realizado un embalaje que garantice la conservación y posterior almacenaje del material fósil intervenido y se recomendarán unos parámetros que favorecen su buena conservación.

[EN] In the following Final Degree Project, the intervention process of a set of fossilized vertebrae, belonging to a stegosaurus dinosaur, is detailed. It is a set of three dorsal vertebrae, alongside a rib fragment, found relatively close together at the site. The pieces were received fragmented and packed, without being intervened since the excavation, so some fragments were still included in the sandy matrix in which they fossilized. In the theoretical section of this work the geographical and geological context to which the specimens belong is duly detailed, identifying those at the taxonomic and anatomical levels. Subsequently, the individualized study and analysis of the initial state of conservation presented by each piece are addressed and an intervention proposal is drawn up. In the practical section, intervention treatments of a restorative nature are addressed, where the various processes that have been carried out on the paleontological material are shown to guarantee its stability both to facilitate its handling for study and its possible exposure. Finally, packaging has been manufactured that guarantees the conservation and subsequent storage of the intervened fossil material, and some parameters which favor its good conservation will be recommended.
